Okay so I took my vehicle to the mechanic and they checked the CEL code, and they are getting 1688. Which according to the mechanic is the Metering Oil Pump Switch. Apparantly you cant buy the switch on its own so the entire pump needs to be replaced. Is this true? Anyone have experience with this issue?

The estimate for the part is $1500, with labor I was estimated at $2500

This is for an 05 RX-8 which I bought from Copart, so it has a salvage title meaning warrantly will not cover it, correct?
