Cel

I was wondering if I could get some input from some people about my CEL. I was driving last weekend and hit the redline and got a flashing CEL. I parked the car and started it up and it went away. Next time I drove it when I got up to around 8k rpms a solid CEL came back on. Well I took it to autozone to get the codes read and it came back as a P0300, random misfire. Also I recently had to get the engine replaced, thank god for warranties, and it only has about 1000 miles on it. I was thinking of taking it in to the dealership but they always take forever and I pretty much need a car everyday. So, do you think it is wise to bring it in or to try reseting the ECU ( I really didn't wanna deal with the hassle of having the ECU reprogramming it self to my driving conditions)

Thank You

Try the ECU reset first. along with the Brake pedal thing. How old are the spark plugs?? How much gas did you have? High RPM driving with less than 1/4 tank can cause issues.

hey tom, don't worry it doesn't sound like anything too serious.
A misfire can happen at high rpm's and usually the culprit is a bad ignition coil.

I usually recommend that people change the ignition coils every 20,000 miles or so. (it's about $100 for all 4 and very easy to replace)

Thanks. I had about a 1/2 of tank. Not really sure how old the spark plugs are but hoping the dealership changed them when they replaced the engine. The car only has about 27k miles.(2005 model)

Replace the coils and plugs, then u're all set.

The replacement engine doesn't come with plugs so if they did put new ones it would be listed on the invoice. If you do not see that assume the dealer put in the plugs from your old motor.
