cabin filter change??? whos done it

ok so im doing my oil change and while autozones site for some decent oil i saw a cabin filter category
well i remember mazda always sent me notice to change it but f*** the fifty or so dollars they want but is it really needed it doesnt smell or anything whos done the actual change of the filter in the cabin i dont think its worth it even though its like 17 bucks at autozone i've looked around and it seems no one talks about it so i dont think anyone has cared enough to change it

My daughter's Mazda6 was pretty similar to the '8. In both cases you have to disconnect the glove box restraint so you can fully swing it down out of the way. It's a good thing the filter is in two pieces or you'd never get it in/out.

I would change it since a clooged in cabin filter will decrease air flow and make your HVAC system work harder. You will be suprised how dirty the filter is when you replace it.

Took me much longer to look up how to do it than to do it. Really easy.

If you don't go Aldehyde (which is Mazda proprietary) save the old filters so you can just replace the filter material itself at your leisure, and save money the next time.

You'll also be 'surprised' at how mice love to Winter-nest on the exterior side of the filter. :( Although my under-hood ultrasonic deterrent seemed to work this year. :)

Do you really notice a difference in flow with a new filter?

Yes, and the smell difference is amazing.

I also went with the Aldehyde - I did notice a difference too - the diesel isn't quite as unbearable with that one. (plus it feels good to get the leaves out of your dash)
