C.E.L. Code P0456
Had my first CEL at 9700 miles code P0456 EVAP system leak detected (very small leak) ON 2 EVAP system. This happened on tuesday. Took it to the dealer, the ran some sort of pressure test and said there was no problem. Got the CEL again today car is currently in the shop, no word yet on code. What system is the code talking about, I have no clue. Has anyone else seen this problem?

Secondly, I have the M Flash is there a newer one, I don't trust my dealer to let me know.

CEL code P0456 is very common (do a search to see). It usually means that you're either not fastening your fuel filler cap tightly enough after you fill up, or the cap itself is faulty and needs replacing.
As for the current Flash, what year is your car and is it Auto or Manual trans? The codes are different I believe. |
Yeah I had a buddy tell me the same thing about the fuel, I have been tightening the gas cap well, so it just may be the cap.
As far as flash I am a '04 MT. |
If or when you have the gas tank recall work done, you will be reflashed to "R".
|
Yeah i had the gas tank recal work done, but there was nothing on the receipt about a reflash. I guess I'll have to ask.
|
Yep...gas cap, seen it heaps of times. Known issue.
|
Funny its a known issue, I dont think my dealer knows the car is made by mazda.

Flash verification?
I had recall work today on my 5/03 build. Ball joints OK, tank insulation was done, newest flash was reportedly done. I asked my dealer for a printout of the flash version but he claimed that it wasn't available. Despite my insisting on proper stickers being applied for recall work, no new service labels are in evidence.
Is there a way for me to confirm the Flash version? I'm going to keep searching forums but I would appreciate help. Thanks  Tom |
