Brand New Renessis Price

Does anyone know how much it would cost to take the car in to a dealer and get a brand new renessis installed?

Bigbacon 04-13-2010 12:30 PM

maybe if you supply the engine, it would be worth it but a dealership is going to rape you. You would be better off getting a used rx8.

find a non dealership who can do it and you'll save a lot of money.

how many miles are on the car? if its under 100,000 or 8 years, the engine can be replaced under warranty if MAzda tests it and it fails.

The car is an 04, and has 72k on it.. The previous owner told me that he got an engine swap at some point, didnt specify why, and that the warranty on the swap is void.. Is there any way of finding out how valid his info is? And why the engine was swapped?

5k give or take parts and labor

gregs 04-13-2010 01:18 PM

if you can pm me your full vin number i can look into it for you

Mazda does not sell brand new engines anymore.

All you will get is a Re-manufactured engine. with probably 80+% brand new parts.

I had a new one, from Japan, to replace the new one that came with the car. Neither of them were any good. Your better off with a reman.

For the record, the "supposed" brand new engine part number is

N3H3-02-200

Bigbacon 04-13-2010 02:11 PM

I would honestly just take it to a dealer and have them look at it, never know they may honor the warranty and you get a new engine for nothing (or a lot less)

A motor swap? You could have an aftermarket company build you an engine out of mainly new parts.

Im thinking about doing that.. Im gonna strip everything off and go back to bone stock and take it into the dealer and see what they say.. Its just a hassle stripping everything off and putting all stocks back on.. But with the numbers I got on a dyno, it makes absolutely no sense at all to keep the car.. About 3k in aftermarket only to put down 175whp (UNCORRECTED)..

I'll have to take a weekend to put all the stocks back on and take it into the stealership..

Whoa ! is that an AT ?

If its MT ... I really wonder what kind of "3K" mods you or previous owner did to the car that makes no power at all.

tamz273 04-15-2010 07:49 AM

Yeh, tell me about it! Ive put in:

RP Midpipe
Greddy SP2 Catback
Injen Short Ram Intake
ACT ProLite Flywheel + Clutch
AP UD Pulley

I was planning on replacing the intake with an AEM, but if those numbers dont go up then I might get a rebuild before doing anymore mods..

If only it was that easy. Sure, they'll replace it if it fails the test and you have the whole service history of the car (hope you've owned it from day one!). Don't have it? Hope it was done by Mazda and they have record of it. It wasn't done by Mazda? You're fucked.
