Brake Tapping Question..

I was trying to clear the KAM memory on the computer by doing the tapping of the brake procedure I seend throughout this board, but it doesn't seem to be working as I never seen the oil pressure needle sweep. What I did was turn the key all the way to on but not start the engine, then tap the brake pedal as fast as I could for at least 20 times. Does this have to be done extremely fast? Also, I have the latest flash. What am I doing wrong? I just want to clear it to see if anything about the car changes, maybe mpg.

You have to complete the tapping within the first 8 seconds, and sometimes I can count 23 or 24 taps before my needle sweeps.

If the car has been learning your driving, and your driving has been calm lately, the difference in power and throttle response will be noticeable. I have never had it change the mileage appreciably, and mine is reset ALL the time (at least once a week). It will be two years old in July.

you may not have the latest PCM flash (N). L flash and earlier does not sweep the needle, though it may clear the PCM i'm not sure

..what happened to me was I took a TSB to a local dealer and demanded (this was the 5th try) that they upgrade me. if they're MDS unit is not updated, they will perform the service as stated on the TSB and it will appear as though everything is fine and dandy to them, and MSP04 will be marked on your service record. then when you take it to the dealer again, they don't think you need and never bother to check.

...you may want to take it in and just get someone to check your calibration level. only takes a couple minutes

Thanks, I will go by and have them check the calibration code, I am pretty sure it is N as it was last updated in November, with a part number/code that seems to have an "N" in it for MSP04. I will keep trying, I tap the brake pedal I don't know how many times, I don't just stop at 20 I do it as fast as I can too.
