Beeping- at 75 mph or more

Anyone know why I get a beeping- when I hit 75mph- continues to beep until speedo drops below 75 (AT) ?

titaniumgrey 10-08-2004 07:55 AM

lmao ..... thats the redline buzzer isn't it ? It's telling you , that your approaching redline ...

Frank Patrick 10-08-2004 08:24 AM

at 75?

Is there a way to reset that beep- it should not be going off at 3100 rpm/75 mph right?

therm8 10-08-2004 08:31 AM

what kind of beeping? beep-beep-beep or beeeeeeeeeeeeep. Not that i know the answer to either but someone might :D

Do the AT's have shift tones? If they don't even have it, that wouldn't be it. Have it checked out pronto.

Frank Patrick 10-08-2004 09:25 AM

It's a beep-beep- at 75 mph- 3100 rpm- but not related to rpm- for example, taking up to 3100 rpm in neutral wil not set off the beep-there has to be simple way to reset-just do not know how-

MyRxBad 10-08-2004 09:33 AM

When you power up the car, do all the warning lights illuminate for a few seconds while in "test" mode. Just making sure it isn't a warning light that's burnt out.

Ole Spiff 10-08-2004 11:28 AM

Do any of the warning lights light up? Any symbols suddenly appear on the instrument cluster? Does it beep a few times then stop? Or does it keep beeping as long as you're at 75 or higher?

Ellar 10-08-2004 01:31 PM

Maybe a TPMS sensor is sending wierd signals to the receiver? I know it's not supposed to sound any tone above a certain speed, but check your tire pressures. See if the dealer can run a diagnostic on that system.

Thanks- I appreciate all of these ideas.

The only time I've heard a beep at a particular speed was in Bahrain. In some Mid East countries, it's law that a warning buzzer goes off about 100 KHP (it's been two years, forgot the exact speed). We just used to turn the radio louder. Never heard of it in an American car though.

Funny, and here i am, hoping to find a way to get my car to tell me when i'm speeding...

mspeed11 10-08-2004 05:33 PM

have you disconected the battery for a few min? i would before i took it in!

SWSDuvall 10-10-2004 10:26 PM

I too had the beeping

Hi,

I had my instrument cluster replaced.. When they put in the new cluster I had the beep at 75 mph - DROVE me crazy.

University Mazda, Seattle conferenced with Mazda California and Japan and they could NOT diagnose it. They dug into the PCM, cluster, you name it.

In the end - NEW intrument cluster - beeping went away. And they thought I was off my rocker when I first told them about it. I said - Here's the keys. The mechanic came back speechless.

So, I am on my 3rd cluster (orig replace with beeper, then 3rd to fix the beeping). The good thing is I have 8,500 LESS miles on my odometer as the miles get reset on each new cluster :)

I thought that I was loosing my mind!!! Mine does the same thing, I've re-read the OM, tried every setting and button in the car. My next step in back to the dealer I guess. Just had the car a month so I hope there is not an issue with correcting this. I'll keep you posted, and thanks for the post!!

No sticker in your doorjamb? They are required by law. It is a felony for the dealership to replace the cluster without a sticker and it is a felony for you to sell the car knowing it was replaced and not disclose the discrepancy.
They won't put you in with Martha Stewart, either.

Mistryl 10-11-2004 12:31 AM

hmmm....i wonder if i can GET the beeping....anyone know of any way?

WHealy 10-11-2004 08:54 AM

Yeah. When I had an instrument cluster replaced in a previous car, they had to hold the car while they waited for a PRE-SET MILAGE cluster to be delivered. As in I coulnd't put more miles on it until they delivered the one with identical miles to replace the old. They said it was a government reg.

zoom44 10-11-2004 01:11 PM

there is a Can module that records the mileage that is supposed to be used to set the mileage on the new cluster. if its not done correctly then you can lose mileage. but it would have to be noted somewhere. as mentioned above this is illegal to roll back an odo.

Beeper from He--

The beeper noise is coming from my cluster- there has to be a way to reset-without going through a whole new cluster!

It's not a problem with the cluster. The problem occured when the dealer replaced the cluster & did not program it for the USA spec. If it is not programmed to USA spec, you WILL get the 75MPH beep as a default. The fact is, the dumb ass dealer did not program the cluster the first time, rather the third.

Mistryl 10-30-2004 02:57 AM

hmm...can i program the cluster with the japan program then? I actually would like the beeping above the 75 mph...anyone know?

alnielsen 10-30-2004 03:29 AM

Question: Why would the dealer replace the original instrument cluster, which created this problem? Was it done before you recieved the car? Is the dealer trying to get rid of miles on the car so they can sell a demo as new?
