Which battery and discarnect?

Hi as winter is getting ever closer and my battery is already struggling (Original 56 year) i was wondering which is the best battery i can get in the UK?
Is a battery for the RX8 with 580 cold cranking amps good and how does this compare to the original battery?

Also i will be starting in the Army soon and my car is going to be left on base for long periods of time, would this be any good to ensure my car will start when i come back to it? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1207685798...#ht_500wt_1409

Thanks!

any decent battery with at least 600 CCA should do.

Prefer a sealed, maintenance free battery or any GEL/AGM kind of battery. lesser chance of failure.

Also, stock size is Group 35. You can find them pretty much anywhere. most Japanese cars use this size of battery (except some smaller cars like FIT/Jazz)

Don't know if they have a Sears over there or not but the DieHard Platinum is a rebranded Odyssey battery. 740 CCA, deep cycle, 4 year warranty. Probably the best battery you can get.

"discarnect?" "56 year?"

Anyway, a deep cycle battery, such as the Optima Yellow Top is a good idea for long term disuse. But how long do you anticipate? If a month or less no issue, but longer you should disconnect the battery as there is almost always some 'phantom' loss.

It would be best if you were able to attach a trickle charger such as a Battery Tender.

Thanks for all the information from everyone, no we don't have Sears over here but I'm sure i can find what i want on the internet now i know what it is.

A discarnect is a sort of switch thing that is attached to the battery so you can turn it off easily without having to use tools and such.
Sorry a 56 year means the car was made in the 2nd half of 2006 so my battery being the original from when the car was produced is about 5 years old.
