Auto Trans Flush

Ok so id really like to do this myself but i dont want to screw something up. I have searched and most things tagged with atf are just asking what kind to use and what not. Am I wrong in thinking all i need to do is have 2 buckets one empty and one full of clean new atf. Then putting the appropriate hoses in the appropriate buckets and letting the car run until the empty bucket starts filling with clean atf?

pretty much, it's not hard, there are 2 hoses attached to the AT and to make life easier, buy couple ft of new oil hose and start from there.

Make sure you have a helper so you can have one person in the car to start/stop the engine and another under the car monitoring the fluid level of the buckets. You don't want to run the trans dry. I would also recommend dropping the pan and replacing the filter. I recommend the Mazda OEM filter only. The aftermarket ones I have seen don't extend as deep into the pan for some reason. Malloy Mazda probably has the best price.

I don't think it has a filter. I have searched for hours for a auto trans filter and none show up. just an in line filter pops up. I also read on a post here in the forum that the auto doesn't have a filter. If you have a link to an auto trans filter though I would love to get that from you.

the part you listed is for 2006-2011. That's why I figured there is no filter in the 2005 auto trans. Every site I have been to does not list a auto trans filter for the 2005. That's why I plan on putting an in line filter in once I flush the trans.

I checked my records and definitely replaced the auto trans filter in an 04. Maybe all the cars don't have them.
