The R26B was a Mazda race engine used in the LeMans winning 787B car. It is a 4 rotor peripheral port naturally aspirated engine. It is not even remotely streetable. Power was anywhere between 600-700+ hp depending on intake. It is no longer made and there were only a handful of them in the first place. Good luck on finding anyone with them. The 3 rotor 13G engine costs upwards of $30,000. Now add 1 more rotor to it and then make it more rare. You can MAKE anything fit with enough effort. You will probably have to redesign the entire front of the car. You will need a very nice standaone ecu, new fuel system, as well as a host of other things. This just isn't a realistic goal to go after. The Acosta Racing 3 rotor is a much more attainable goal and still more power than you can use.

Thanks for the help! whats a 13g? I have heard of 13b. How much do you think it would be for a 20b? And which would you prefer 20b 13g?

As with the R26B, the 13G is a Mazda 3 rotor Peripheral Port race engine that is no longer made. The designation is misleading as it is a 2 liter. Any peripheral port engine (intake) shouldn't be considered unless the car is a 100% track car with positively no street use what so ever. Some of the Aussies would disagree but they aren't remotely street legal, can't be made street legal, have poor emissions, need minimal muffling (extremely loud), and lousy gas mileage (under 10). A 20B is the most logical and easy to obtain engines. They are no longer made either but parts are still available as well as used engines. If you wanted to build a peripheral port race engine based on a 20B this can be done since parts are available. A streetable turbo 20B can easily hit 600+ hp in street trim and 1000+ hp in race version. That is pretty fast in either form. Without turbos the engine in street trim could make about 350 hp or so and possibly more. Contact Acosta. He has the most experience with installing one in an RX-8. If you are going to go to all the effort, add a turbo. It is probably going to run upwards of about $30K by the time it is all said and done. Just a warning. It would be a very nice ride though.
