Anyone Street Port the new Renesis?

I know the engines are new and everything, but I'm sure there are a couple people out there that have street ported one of these. How is it when street ported? What's the power gain and how drivable is it? I'm not interested in having it done anytime soon, but I'm curious as hell....

Thanks,

Levent

nope. i haven't heard of no one porting a 13BMSP yet... but i'm equally as curious.

I found some info in the most recent rotarynews.com article about the speedsource RX-8s. Dave Haskell mentions the intake ports are probably about as large as possible without tearing up side seals.. something like that. Here is a link to the article.

I'd suggest sending him a PM and see if he'll post what he knows about renesis porting in here. Care to do the honors Omicron? :D

bah, whatever.

it can be done. tearing up side seals is from going in. losing corners is from taking the ports too far out (this is what the bridge is for, to support the corner and apices). because of the zero overlap configuration of the current MSP layout, you could probably make small or "half bridges" down the top half of the primary and secondary, and cheat right into the tertiary port too, a wee bit.

and the exhaust ports have very very obvious room to spare on the primary side, too. so there's lots of room to port without going perhipheral, not to worry.

edit: btw, introducing some overlap can increase pumping efficiencies at high engine speeds, not to mention it sounds sexy at low rpm too.

If you cut a bridge, it's not a street port - the question is "can you street port a renesis?" That would then be a bridge port :).

There you go with your "tertiary" port again.... I thought we already dealt with this.

If you go to the racingbeat RX-8 site, you'll see that ''porting" is underdevelopment
