anyone run more oil pressure yet?

so ive noticed that the rx8 uses the 71psi oil pressure regulator.

on the fd's mazda bumped the oil pressure to basically the same levels as the racing engines, 110ish psi.

this does a couple of things. most important being more oil being sprayed to cool the rotors.

ive put plenty of fd regulators into non fd cars, and theres no noticeable down side.

the upside seems to be better reliability, and slightly better oil temps

any thoughts?

I think that the oil system of the RX8 has a blockoff plug or something that stops too much oil from going around the rotors.

If you really wanted more cooling you could just remove that(just like they do for racing purposes), but the downside is running your engine too cool on the streets.

remove the plug and put a thermostat in.

oil coolers have thermostats too, afik

btw, i need a new grammar regulator, thread title's a little, well apples and pears

thats another thing too. all the previous mazda racing engines, have been run at 115psi, and 9000ish rpm redline.

from personal experience, our ex IT/PS1 engine's bearings are BEAT after being revved to 9400rpm for a season. rest of the motor looks fine. its a stock 89-91 non turbo with fd corner seal springs, and the fd oil pressure regulator.

seems like the rx8's run hot too, and with those giant coolers, they shouldnt?
