Anyone remove their console lids?

Hey guys:

I recently purchased a set of red leather console covers (F/R) from Canzoomer. Since these are J-spec parts, the instructions are in Japanese. Has anyone removed bot the front and rear covers that can help me out with my install?

Thanks in advance!

The front cover is removed as follows:
1) Open the front console
2) Press and hold the small button (about 1/8 in diameter) on the bottom side of the cover towards the front near the top.
3) Slide the cover foward and it will come off.
4) Slide the new cover on
5) Press the small button again and slide the cover all the way to the rear
6) Close the cover and you're done.

The rear cover is removed as follows:
1) Remove the pass thru cover
2) Sit in the left rear seat
3) With the rear cover closed press down and to the right firmly with the plam of your hand
4) While pressing down on the cover, lift the right side edge of the cover with your fingers, you should feel the plastic catches release.
5) Remove the cover
6) If you were carefull the plastic catches on the lower cover will be undamaged, go to step 15
7) If you broke the plastic catches on the lower cover continue below
8) Remove the front catch by removing the screw on the front of the lower cover
9) Using a hammer and a drift (screw driver) punch out the hinge pins at the rear of the lower cover.
10) Remove the lower cover.
11) Place the new lower cover in position
12) Drive in the new hinge pins into the lower cover using the hammer and drift
13) Center the pins in the hinges using a pair of pliers
14) Attach the latch to the front of the lower cover using the screw you removed in step 8
15) Snap the new upper cover on to the lower cover by pressing firmly downward with the plams of your hands
16) Replace the pass thru cover
17) Admire your new console covers

wow
all that red looks great
the shift sits kinda high though

I cut the shaft when I put my momo shift on

Mikeb:

I'd have to agree with ya on the shifter being too high. I'd love to cut to down maybe an 1.5 -2 inches. Gotta love the red! :)

Mods, move this to the DIY Sub Forum - nice instructions! - I'm ordering these whenever I strike oil - I have milked the piggy all the way :p Yikes $265 is steep

really does belong in DIY. man this site has everything, from 8 years ago no less... just no excuse for posting without searching

holy mother thread resurrection !

New Yorker 06-03-2012 11:53 AM

And despite the age of the thread, how refreshing to see a useful response instead of a cold, harsh command to "search". Nothing worse than needing a quick answer to a specific question only to run into that roadblock and realizing the answer you hoped would be at hand is still another 20 minutes – 5 hours away.

Exactly. I love when I'm searching for an answer and I find a thread that seems like it would have the answer to my problem but it's just people saying "SEARCH!"

...I mean I was searching and I found this thread. It would have been nice if it contained some useful information, like maybe a link to the actual thread for everyone else down the line that is searching for an answer to the same exact problem.

People these days won't hesitate to up their post count with out actually helping anybody out.

certianly was dead useful, but then again, this is why i will never understand those #^%$^*ers who after being told to search always shoot back with 'i need help i don't have time to search'. why WAIT for a reply when you can just go get it immediately?

how come that didn't show up in the search??:p:

seriously though, just plain crazy how the rear lid is so TOTALLY different from the front. would have broken something for sure without this -- it's literally impossible to tell how this is held together without x-ray vision or this wonderful thread. just wish i'd looked it up first before pulling out the whole rear console

anyway :icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup:
