Any advice? UIM and OMP maintenance
 

So i've got ~88k mi on my rx8. I have never cleaned the OMP's lines or cleaned the UIM after i put my catch can in. I already cleaned my SSV (was nasty).

A bit of history, my OMP gasket was leaking enough to starve my housings of oil and allow for them to be all types of scored. It was rebuilt with new housings and a new OMP gasket was installed with the rebuild.

The car is making a quick progression towards track-only. That being said, im about to start beating the crap out of the car on the track...I want to make sure everything is a-ok.

Does anyone have any pointers for the UIM or OMP removal? I have the service manual and thats fine...but some times it can be vauge.

TL;DR - Does anyone have any tips/tricks in regards to removing the UIM and/or OMP?

Also, i have looked into the SOHN adapter...but i have not committed to it yet.

so im out there now and the service manual tells me i need to pull the engine out of the car inorder to disconnect it.

my aem is disconnected at the throttle body, the 5 UIM to LIM bolts are out...but i cant see below the mess of vacuum hoses....anybody?

you have to pull the nuts for the oil fill infront of the filter. remember to disconnect the electrical plug behind the uim. also be carefull with the tubing on the solenoids for the ssv valve, air pump, and the other. the omp nozzles are harder to get to i believe you have to pull fuel rails and all to get to them.

thx, i just want to disconnect the omp lines from the nozzels so i can clean them out. i really dont want to pull the fuel rails. im quite hesitant to do that.

its not too bad just make sure you label the wiring clips and put vasoline on the rubber o rings. then firmly push down on the rails you will feel the o rings seat.

Some Advice for you is Id PM him your number as there are alot of fucktards that would love to mess and use your number for their enjoyment. I know its fucked up but people do that shit, just trying to help brotha ;)

Uim off thx to bumblebeerx8's advice. Going to let my garage air out from the fuel fumes...lol. next up is omp and its lines.

My advice for the OMP, is if you are going to pull it off, and need to move it around the coolant hose, wait until you have the OMP loose to remove the hose. The adapter how to said to move the lines first... All I did was bear blast coolant all over my driveway until I disconnected the OMP then move the coolant line.

if you want you can go to somewhere like granger and build your own lines. I would test the oil injectors first, then replace the oil injection bolts that need it. Second you can use a line that is much better than stock and doesn't have valves in it.

Check the bajos if they need to be replaced you can get them fairly cheap from a number of places.

For the tubing the RX7 guys have been using this for years. You can find a couple of threads on it, but it seems to hold up much much better than stock, and is resistant to ethanol. - http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT...M=%2348701031+

you can always order new lines, but you can build all four of them yourself for the price of one new line. If you can salvage the banjos already there and clean them with parts cleaner and brake cleaner to perfection then you should be alright. Just make sure not to damage them.

well im putting everything back together because it is clear that i'll need a new omp gasket since everything is coated with oil down there.

i can't get the clip to fit right for the red fuel rail on the drivers side next to the UIM. There is a very small maroon clip and the red fuel clip...i can't get them to seat right. Any thoughts?

Those are a bitch. Is that the clip for that location? Let me go look.

As for making your own OMP lines, well that is just not a good idea, too much room for error and too much of a PIA to get too should you have a problem. They are beefy enough to outlast most peoples RX8 ownership, juts install new ones when you get the chance. I considered it for a bit and it is just not smart.

Are you replacing the injectors as well? Be careful with the black plastic vacuum block that mounts under the bracket that holds the fuel rail.

Okay, i looked and I think you have those mixed up (or I do lol) because on mine the blue is toward the front of the car and the rear is closest to the firewall. Red is feed, blue is return.

I'm at work right now but when I get home I will look at Hoss-05's car for comparison.

Just be very careful man, I broke one last time and you cannot buy just the clip. Rotary Resurrection saved my ass by having one.

I still think they are mixed up....one locks the other doesn't. I already ordered the lines as a precaution...but damnit.

I checked mine, and it's the same as 9krmprx8. I think yours is mixed up.

once you disconnect that line, always replace it with a new one.

i simply don't trust those "quick connectors" :(

Thx to all, she is running again, I had to place that small red clip into the blueclip. No leaks :)

edit: i cleaned my maf and ess as well while i was at it. my blueberry is back in action.
