Another Sohn/Epitroch Install

During my install of the Epitroch kit bundle which includes the Sohn adapter with a reservoir solution I took a number of photos I want to share with the RX-8 community.

The windshield washer reservoir in the Epitroch kit seems to be the ideal size for my climate. I think the OEM tank I removed probably held the original fluid from when I bought the car seven years ago. I just don't have much need for windshield washer fluid while driving in an area where it rarely rains. The washer pump fit perfectly after a bit of lube on the gasket. To ease removal of the windshield washer pump from the original tank I used a couple squirts of penetrating oil.

Accessing the OMP's mounting bolts is fairly easy as shown in these photos. I considered doing the entire job through the passenger-side wheel well but I finally realized that removing the battery is necessary. I did not remove the airbox nor did I disconnect the OMP's electrical connectors. Leaving the coolant hose in place and just revolving the disconnected OMP around the coolant hose seems like a good idea but I wanted to replace the coolant anyway so I drained the coolant, disconnected the hose and moved the OMP's injection lines to the position shown in the photos.

I disliked the new route for the oil injection lines because they seem to be pinched between a coolant pipe and a hose clamp, but there isn't much choice short of replacing them.

To hold the paper gasket in place on the face of the Sohn adapter I used the same Teflon-based lubricant I used on the windshield washer pump gasket. It is somewhat sticky and worked beautifully but I suppose any high viscosity grease would work.

I highly recommend the Epitroch kit. The price is reasonable and the quality very high.

So you really meant to post this in the DIY area?

Sure, if the DIY area is a better place for this post, that's fine with me.

Ask yourself is this a Tech issue or is it: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...-forum-163653/
