Aisin AZ6 Gearbox Short Shifters

Hi excuse me if this sounds like a dumb question but the rx8 has a Aisin AZ6 gearbox which is also used in these cars,
  • Nissan SR20DET (S15)
  • Mazda Rx8
  • Mazda 2001 MX-5
  • Honda S2000
  • Toyota 1G, 3S (SXE/GXE10 Toyota Altezza & Lexus IS)
As far as im aware there are only 2 short shifters available for the Rx8 the Mazda Speed which is impossible to get hold off and the Axial flow which is to expensive if you are in England like i am and on a budget etc.

Therefore i wondered if any of the Short Shifters made for the cars listed above would fit an Rx8 as they are much much cheaper and The cars they are made for have fundamentally the same gearbox. I know bugger all about gearboxes so ill apologies in advance if this is a dumb question.
Thanks

Well, I'm curious too. I don't see why they wouldn't work, but without the two transmissions side by side it would be impossible to tell if the shifters are identical.

being an Aisin AZ6 gearbox means that they share similarities in their design and many of the internal parts are interchangable .... this however does not apply to the bellhousing, the shift linkage, or the clutch engagement mechanism.

For example, the NB and the S2K transmissions are both AZ6 transmissions, but they look nothing alike.

like ^^ aka paimon soror said, just the bell housing difference alone is enough to make your "short shifter from a S2K" fails to fit.

what sup with all the 1 post noob asking funny (read: STUPID) question lately ...

I wouldn't call it a stupid question. Especially if he has never been under his car before.

they are the same basic Aisin model designation, but by no means are they the same. They don't even look the same.

the closest one to the RX8 is the 1999-2005 Miata version, they have the same center case and can interchange some internals

this is actually one of the most repeated fails on the forum so it's not really your fault that a bunch of people who don't know any better keep parroting the same false info over and over again, pretty typical actually
