Aftermarket ignition coil experience?

Ok. Got that out of the way.

Rock Auto carries two aftermarket ignition coil brands, and I'm trying to find out if anyone has experience with either:

The first is made by Standard Motor Corporation, for $27.79 ea.

and

the second is made by Airtex for $28.79 ea.

I'm not familiar with either company, so if anyone is, can y'all please speak up... Thanks!

They look like the stock coils do. And for the price I would just buy stock. If you are looking for something better than stock check out the BHR Ignition or the Mazsport Ignition.

Yeah, I was planning on buying stock ones from finishline, but after reading around here that the stock ones burn up easily, I wanted to know information on the two AFTERMARKET replacement options... I don't necessarily want something "better", I just want something more reliable, if it's available. My guess is, one of those companies I listed makes the stock part for Mazda, but I don't know for certain, hence the question...

The 'stock' coils have been redesigned - they don't burn out now.

I replaced mine and it's a nice difference, my misfire at 9.5k is gone.

....and I'd trust mazda oem before those two companys (that I've never heard of)

Why?? Mazda doesn't make the coil; they're sourcing it from someone...

But anyways, I didn't realize the stock coils had been redesigned to fix the burning issue. Guess I'll go that route. Thanks!

If these the coils have been out for atleast 2 months....they are junk. Cuz mine have burnt out for the 7th time!

O'Reilly's sells import direct ignition coils for 27.99 each. I replaced all four of mine and felt a definite increase in power. I was having a secondary misfire and loss of power plus when the coils were saturated with heat when the engine was at operating temp the car would have trouble starting. with the new coils it cranks up right away. definitely reccomend these coils

All the aftermarket stock replacement coils don't seem to last too long in my experience. I only recommend the Mazda OEM updated coils.

I agree with the OEM redesigns. They are all you need.

It should be noted that a lot of the aftermarket coils seem to have adopted the new design.

These are very clever copies.....the trading cy's offering these fake coils are also clever since they do offer these coils as "Ignition coil OEM" for Mazda RX-8 and not as "Ignition coil OEM-Mazda" which would be a violation, whereas they offer the sellers an alibi to use the name "Ignition Coil OEM" (so "OEM-CM") CM= Chinese Manufacturer.

Like I said, I've had all the aftermarket coils (Autozone, Pep Boys, etc) coils fail prematurely. Never had an issue with new mazda coils.

I never said they would last....I said they had a lifetime warranty and you can get replacements for free....i can put new coils on every time I change plugs if I choose..

Yeah that would be convenient.

I have the BHR kit. There is no comparison to the stock coils. This is better, 100% without a doubt.

The OE coils are good enough for the Renesis-powered Pro Mazda formula race cars. With a MoTeC race computer setup they can run any coil they want. Back in 2007 I posted a 220 rwhp dyno as a Cobb AP beta tester on OE coils. And I have actually compared/tested OE, BHR, and homemade Yukon coil systems all back to back many years ago. That was when I figured out the OE dwell table while everyone else was buying into the 1.5 multiplier factor.

For $500 you have many suitable options.

I use OE coils, it's good enough for most people, and the latest one Revision C (for Spirit-R) makes it even better.
