Advice Needed: Turbo Kit

Hey everyone, I'm new here. But I just got my 04' RX-8 and I am going to turbocharge it right away. My question is: how bolt-on is the "GReddy Bolt-On Turbo Kit w/ e-Manage Ultimate"? Am I going to need to have a professional install it. I'm a very talented individual I know i can install it myself, but What about the e-Manage is it plug and play?

So it really is bolt-on, a senseless amateur could install it and have a turbo RX-8?

Well I most definitely can name every piece in that picture, i used to have a Twin Turbo 300zx that I upgraded the turbos on , but that was easy because they were already there and they provided the pike peaks ECU. I'm just questionable about "starting from scratch" to turbo charge a N/A engine. To my understanding the kit bolts on the wiring is set in place and you plug the e-manager into the ECU, somewhere.

BTW - If you can name all the parts in that picture, you should be seriously questioning the vendor since the kit is quite different now in several very important ways.

BZZZZZZZZZ! I'm so sorry.
You should have used one of your life lines.

You may want to go back and re-think your previous post.

cherrysoda_zx 05-12-2008 12:48 AM

you didn't even tell me what it was? plus i believe this kits provide semi-detailed descriptions and instructions on installation of the parts in the kit.

MazdaManiac 05-12-2008 12:50 AM

I think you are missing the point.

BTW - Its the air pump line to the manifold. It replaces the OE hard-pipe.

damn,

my guess was ss line with two brackets and hardwood floor.. but i dont know a thing about turbos...

greddy kit is great as long as you replace the turbo, the couplers, and the fuel management system.

Jedi54 05-12-2008 10:48 AM

the Greddy kit might not be the solution you're after. If you had a Twin turbo 350z with upgraded turbos you probably put down quite a bit of power.
The greddy kit was one of the first on the market but there's been great improvements in this area since it was released.

If you're looking for 300+ whp, this isn't really for you. (taking a guess that's what you want since it seems to be the goal of most who fo FI)
What's your budget for the project?

it's another sad dat in va when we wish for power.
