Activating Keyless Entry Autolock Function
 

I'd like to activate Keyless Entry autolock on my 2006 RX-8.

So when you take the Keyless Entry transmitter out of range the doors automatically lock.

Page 3-20 of the manual says only Mazda dealer can activate. Anyone know the procedure? I imagine it's pretty straight forward.

It can only be done by the dealership... unless you have you own $3K Mazda software and hardware to activate this yourself...

Thanks for the info. I assume they have made it so the user can't do it so this becomes a cash grab where I have to pay money to get this done now? Anyone know what the charge for this should be?

Depends what type of a relationship you have with your service dept...
If you've been a PIA.., they'll probably charge you.

Actually, the other day the dealership was doing an inspection on mine, and I thought I'd call in and find out if they could set that up for me. So, I called in and asked, they said sure thing. A few hours later, they call back, and tell me it'll cost $56.00 for them to make the change.

Bleh.

It would've been a neat novelty to have, but not $56.00 neat.

I have a 04 rx8 and already bought new keyless controls. It's easy to reprogram them:
1- with the door open, turn on and off the ignition key 3 times.
2- press the bottom of the door 3 times.
3- the locks of the car start to open and close
4-press any bottom of the remote.
5-tha car will move the lock open and close position (indicating tha accepted the remote.
Follow step 4 up to 3 remotes.
6- remove key and test the remotes.
