6 speed manual engine into 5 speed manual rx8
So i own a tuned up 5 speed rx8 and found a good deal on the high power rx8 for 2k $. Is there any way to swap the high power engine into the low power model ? Or am i better off reinstalling all my mods in the high power ?
Thanks :) |
just swap over the entire 6 port engine (engine harness and all) and the 6 speed transmission into your car, also put the 6 port pcm/ecu and get your keys reprogrammed to the 6 ports computer. also install the gauge cluster from the 6 port. that should be everything in your case...
edit: oh and dont forget to send me all the parts that come off your car :) thx lol |
The whole car is only 2k? The engine is good and you had that tested?

It would be cheaper to swap the engine, intake manifold, ecu, wiring loom and then have the car towed to a dealership to code the immobilizer to the new key.
The transmission doesn't have to be swapped but the gearing advantage of a 6 speed tranny vs the 5 speed one is huge. |

The 5 speed \4 port rx8 lacks some intake valves (4 port manifold). Good luck letting the OE 5 speed PCM control them and the 2 extra injectors.

So im better off transfering my mods onto the other one and repair rear bumper?... And keep the 5sp for spare parts ^^

body work = more expensive than just moving the engine and transmission parts that we said.
|
Possible frame damage = fail as well.
Just buy a civic. |

Yea went to mazda dealer he said there is more than just moving engine and transmission . Cooling systems wires ecu mounts lots of others stuff i dont know about my mods are not really hard to remove ( exhaust , underglow , double din metra kit , tinted windows rims etc... ) just got flashing ecu today... Went out after a few seconds i wonder what that was ... Not a good sign tho probably spark plugs or coils
First, you went to a Stealership. They are going to say a bunch of stuff so that way you get hesitant to do it yourself and pay your left kidney to have them do it for you. Cooling systems are the same motor and trans mounts are the same interior wire harness will work just fine. the only "wires" needed are the engine wiring harness that is part of the 6 port "high power" engine. and that plugs right in to everything else. Like i originally told you, it is much easier to just move over the whole engine and transmission (it will be easy bolt-on installation since the sub-frame and powerplant frame are the same), move over the pcm/ecu (also easy, just a box in the corner of the engine bay you plug in), and the gauge cluster. then just go get your keys reprogrammed and youre done. |
