Hi S-one, I have read ur post word-by-word a few times and still cannot seem to understand what you r trying to describe. But so far, I havent had any "click" sound in my car. Can U pls describe all those different positions again or do I need to get the Kama Sutra to decipher what u r saying? Hehe!

I searched for Kama Sutra and this is what popped up! :D J/K No I haven't heard any noticeable click sound on reporducing the steps you mentioned. Might as well take it to the dealership and get it checked out. Of course I have found that sometimes when I put in Park, the shifter doesn't completely engage it and is only halfway, and I am unable to take my keys out. But just a simple tap to the end of the Park fixes it.

wat i meant is when I shift abit out from "P" to pull down to "N" or "D" ,etc....
The step from shifting juz abit out from "P" does produce a clicking sound, I m
juz wondering is this norm???
Think i'll send to my agent & let them access, if it's genuine prob i'll inform all.
Tks Bro!

Yesthat is normal. The carmakes all kindsof weird noises when you shiftit to and from reverse and drive.

310Guy 09-14-2004 10:41 PM

Mine does the same thing. Does that make it "normal"? I dunno...

310Guy 09-14-2004 11:45 PM

Actually, mine isn't really a "click" but more of a "clunk" sound...

What you are hearing is probably the key interlock system, which prevents the ignition switch from being removed when the selector lever is in any position other than the P range. (The ignition switch cannot be turned to the LOCK position.) It is a cable operated system, so there may be a few clicking sounds when you shift out of park, but usually very faint.
