4-rotor Renesis(?)

I' d like to ask some (probably stupid) questions

1) The current 4rotor engines are built from rx7 13b and older engine models only?

2) Did anyone made a 4rotor from renesis?

3) If not, is it possible? (exept the regular issues about building a 4rotor)

4) Can wankels burn biofuel? (imagine a 4rotor on biofuel)

(if those have already been discused could you giveme the link?)

THANK YOU

Does that mean I can't run away from him ? :squint:

Psychopath 12-09-2008 11:28 AM

why is it so bad asking some question?

i am taking my very first steps on rotary which i find intresting

Wankel is a GREAT engine

i am trying to collect informations on the net but it is difficult since my english arent good
(or there is a lack of info)

it is just not nice...

Maybe others can't be civil, but I will.

1) The current 4rotor engines are built from rx7 13b and older engine models only? As far as I know

2) Did anyone made a 4rotor from renesis? I haven't heard of any. There is a 3 rotor engine that has been built in the UK.

3) If not, is it possible? (exept the regular issues about building a 4rotor) Possible.. I would think yes, Practical.. probably not.

4) Can wankels burn biofuel? (imagine a 4rotor on biofuel) By biofuel, do you mean a diesel replacement, then no. There isn't enough compression to fire off diesel. If you mean Alcohal or E85, it could be possible with modification.

(if those have already been discused could you giveme the link?) You will need to use the Search function. I don't have the links off the top of my head.

THANK YOU!

1.Practical not, because the ports are on the side?
Or about the ECU managment?
Cranksaft?

2.Yeah, Alcohol or e85. Perhaps it will raise the power...

nycgps 12-09-2008 11:57 AM

E85 will not raise any power. it actually has less power than the regular gasoline we use.

Someone made a 4- rotor renesis. e-shaft is the problem. and its pretty hard to get the side port timing + cooling right.

Thank you nycgps.

I thought that koenigsegg ccxr was more powerful because its using e85

"According to Keonigsegg, the CCXR's performance is even better than that of the standard CCX thanks to the bio-fuel, "the ethanol in bio-fuel has the positive side effect of cooling the combustion chambers, as well as a higher octane value, well over 100 RON, which gives the high power." The company explains that for this reason, the power reaches up to 1018 hp at 7200 rpm, and the torque can reach up to 1060 nm at 6100 rpm."

http://thefutureofthings.com/pod/106...ports-car.html

it might do the same for 13b

mysql 12-09-2008 12:36 PM

uh. There's a recent thread from yesterday with a guy who has a 26b in his rx8.

EdwardsB 12-09-2008 12:40 PM

the e85 allows for higher compression ratios due to the higher octane rating (reduces the chances of det). the higher octane rating itself does not make more power, it need the higher compression ratio.

btw you cannot search the internet because your english is not that good, but you can understand what we are saying?:scratchhe

I would also think e-shaft flex would be a problem. The true Mazda made 4 rotor engine had a shaft bearing in the middle to eliminate the wobble. The present day 4 rotors, built in Australia I think, are made from pieces of 13B-REW engines.
Like nycgps said, E85 & ethanol have less power per volume than gasoline. To get the same potential you have to increase the amount burned and/or increase the compression. Compression can be increased because the ethanol burns slower.

only at the "normal" gasoline engine compression. with alcohol in the mix the compression can be made higher resulting in HP gains and equal or better mpg

good luck getting the Tuning done

Silver06 12-09-2008 01:54 PM

Nycgps.

I'd think that by the time you got to that stage, tuning would be the least of your worries; LOL.

That' there's second Mortgage $$$.

^ I think I495 would just pass in a blurrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

(as long as your fuel tanker truck could keep up, that is)

Ahhhh... Found it: 4 Rotor Turbo Rx8

I meet that guy at the 24 Hrs of Daytona (07 race) a year ago and had his phone number. He said he was working on getting a ecu working for a Aussie 4 rotor. I didn't know he was going to put it in an 8.
