2004 RX8 HP numbers
I've seen 2 different HP #s for the 04 RX8 which are 197hp and 238hp. Are both correct? Which models have 197hp and which have 238hp? Thanks

You are probably looking at the automatic RX8 HP vs the manual RX8 HP

less isn't more in this case. you get less hp, less rpms, and less gears. |

I have a 2004 Jap import RX-8 and it's got 250bhp. The standard european spec models have 192bhp (5 gear) and 231bhp (6 gear). Jap imports have more which is why the insurance is higher on mine. If you're from the US, I don't know what bhp is in those ones.
|
Anyone know the bhp on the automatic US RX8?
|
this disgusts me....

you have 215hp like all 6 port models manual models. go do a wheel dyno and see what you get. i'm gonna "guess" here and say you'll get 180-185 wheel hp. guess where that puts you at the engine? |

Additionally, AT owners vary quite a bit. Some have 4 gears, others have 6. The engines are different between these models too. |
You fail at life.

almost everything is geared towards MT since AT owners are not as likely to get performance mods.

failure is inevitable
but for some people, it is a daily routine |

Thanks. So the 197hp is probably the 4 gear auto and do you think you could find a turbo for it like a Greddy, etc..? BTW is there something wrong with owning a auto RX8 guys?
lol |

lol IMO a sports car has a stick in it, call me crazy. |
for a daily driver and you mostly drive in the city... then an auto is the way to go.. i have the 2004 auto and i love it. just take care of it and you will be fine..
|
Thanks for the replys. Anyone know if they make turbos for the autos?
|
sounds like you're avoiding the 6mt... u should get the manual and learn to drive it =] if u dont, you'll regret it.
|
i belive there are some turbo 8s on the fourm that is an auto.. you can do the turbo but i belive you have a higher risk blowing up everything.. if i would u with a auto.. you should get a supercharger and i think the auto will benfit more out of a supercharger

an auto will benfit a lot more from the SuperCharger because the auto has no low end at all.. its slow as balls of the line.. and thats where the SuperCharger really kicks in and helps u out.. with the auto 8s with turbos you will have to get goin a little bit until the turbo will kick in.. and usually when a turbo kicks in.. its when our power with the stock kicks in.. im just tellin what ive learned from this site for over a year and a half.. just trying to help out a felllow rx8 owner

I actually agree... My 8 was my very first car that was manual. I wanted the 8 so bad, I practiced on my fiend's Civic (don't laugh) and the very next day, went to the dealer and bought my car. I am VERY happy I did this, though I was scared of hills for a few months.
|
Manual enough said....you can find them at really good prices right now

Its not that im avoiding the MT I just found a 4speed Auto in good condition. And wondering if I could find mods for it. Should I consider buying it or look for a MT? It would be more fun right, and more HP?
|
lilring you have not the least bit of a coherent understanding of what you are talking about . please stop
|
Thanks for the replys. Im going to take a few days to consider which one to buy. Thanks
|
be patient and find a mt, you will love it soo much more and if u cant drive manual it only takes but a day to learn.

I have a 6spd Manual Rx8 2004 13B pretty standard, but at 238hp and she goes okay.
