Porting a 4Port AT Question
Hello!
I'm having a hard time finding a lot of info around this subject. Long story short, my 8 needs an engine rebuild. I figured since it is getting the rebuild I have an opportunity to do the RB street port to it. 1. Is it worth it on a 4 Port AT? 2. I would like to eventually do either the Long tube headers from BHR once they release. What kind of increases will I see with these, the AEM CAI and the Street Port? 3. If I have the port and long tube headers but stick with the stock exhaust how much will that bottle neck? (I like the car's stock exhaust sound. Thanks for the help in advance. Really just want to see if its worth it to pay the extra $500 to port now since the engine is being rebuilt. |

Everything I find looks like they never updated their results after they finished. I just wanna know if its going to be worth it to port my AT 4 port? |

you can use a 6 port center iron for more area.

^^I have a good, low mileage used one, just haven't bothered to post it up FS yet

What sort of gains would I see out of the center plate? They shop is offering to do it for $600 since the engine is broke down. They are trying to desuade me as the cost is high for a minimum gain.

Decided to do the RB port as well as the 6 port center to give me a little more space. As soon as BHR Long tube headers release I'm going to grab those as well. I'll update you guys with the results.

Why not just go for a 6 port?

No you can not. Also you would need a 6port ECU.

To bad but thanks anyway
They also moved rev limiter to mine RX8 and mine also has 200HP at wheels :) So good shop should do this without any problem. The question is if they can tune engine. |

At least shop near me did this - he squeezed 200 RWHP from 4AT ported engine and they also moved rev limiter.

Hi i can se we are almost neighbors compared to the other guys in here haha.
Can you tell me what kind og port job and modifications was made to the engine? Best regards Rasmus Denmark He just mentioned that it was ported. It's 4 port AT and i think that he used streetport template. They Corrected AFR and ignition timing. Rev limiter also was moved from 7500 to 8500 or 9000 on that 4 port Mine 6 port AT RX8 has only done a tune - AFR, Ignition timing and rev limiter to 9000. There is no rotary service in Denmark ? If not if you're interester i'm sure that he'd be happy to help you. Those guys made an engine rebuild to a guy on Croatia :) They drove to him, did a complete engine rebuild, porting, some tune and drive back home. You could also make a trip to Poland for that :) In term of performance it will be noticable for sure. Just rev limiter by itself it much. |
No rotary
tuning shops om Denmark unfortunatly that's why im doing everything my self. Now I just need a set of 4 port templates |

Now I just need a set of 4 port templates The best solution would be to just do a ECU remap - big gain you'd get just by a change of the rev limiter to 9000 :) Apart from that even if you did port your engine without a remap to compensate that ported engine you might not get any difference at all. |
