Nitrous

I've decided to get nitrous, am I making a mistake as a first mod to my 4at? I figure its the best way because I don't need extra power very often, just once or twice a month when I take my rx8 to autox. Seems like it would be an easy install.

tajabaho1 Oct 11, 2007 06:27 PM

idk but Im getting nitrous for my 6 AT :)

chrism Oct 11, 2007 06:31 PM

you may want to look into a trans cooler and another oil cooler before doing this

nuke0907 Oct 11, 2007 06:34 PM

nitrous for autox? when would you spray?

I am always an advocate for nitrous on any able application but Im not so sure it would be wise to use in Autox event. I guess it would depend on the course. I mean how often are you at WOT long enough for the spray to be beneficial? As i have never Autox myself, this is all speculation, so, what would you Autox guys say bout this??

Whether you use it for competition or not, i would still go ahead and get the setup. Just be sure to get the ZEX setup, is the "smartest" system you can get for the price.

when we lose a curve going too fast

Charles R. Hill Oct 11, 2007 07:04 PM

No need for tranny nor aux oil cooler with nitrous.

saffrizzle Oct 11, 2007 07:05 PM

The one I went to last week was half road course so while I only got up to 85mph there were some cars that got up to 140 that completely smoked my best time.

jones75254 Oct 11, 2007 07:12 PM

wow, if you are getting long enough straights for that amount of speed then it just might be beneficial. Courses i have witnessed didnt have oppurtunity for those kind of speeds

sshhhhhh....no one has to know. Charles, with your installation expertise, the system can be hidden:) (of course i dont condone illegal tactics in sanctioned events)

tajabaho1 Oct 11, 2007 07:18 PM

lol just put in "little jims"

jones75254 Oct 11, 2007 07:27 PM

Ok Charles, you are beginning to be a real BUZZ kill here. :lol2:

tajabaho1 Oct 11, 2007 07:40 PM

lol, I plan to track my car, not autoX though, and yes, I am gonna put in a nitrous, and yes, I am gonna turbo it, regardless of what people say

I'll jam my nos bottle in the little compartment that opens up to the trunk from the rear seats. No outsider knows about that one :uhh:

llzjayarzll Oct 17, 2007 11:53 PM

did the OP get his nitrous yet?

tajabaho1 Oct 18, 2007 09:49 AM

I think we scared him away

lilring Nov 1, 2007 10:44 PM

if you want to get better times in autox.. you might want to try the Pettit SuperCharger.. it will allow you better accelration out of the turns.. it will benfit you much more than NOS.. which ever one you get good luck.. from one autox guy to another, go take those turns and show the pisstons that we are not scared of them

saffrizzle Nov 18, 2007 09:37 PM

the curves are no problem, i clean house. its the straights :x lol

tajabaho1 Nov 18, 2007 09:43 PM

if it is the straights, u seriously need to get a turbo......nitrous will do but u will need an EMS.......like for real real, get an int-X or other EMS, get a 75shot, and tune it carefully

that is the cheapest way

lilring Nov 18, 2007 10:45 PM

the SuperCharger will do good on the strights too. i dont think NOS is the way to go, you will be going through NOS like no other. you will probley be filling it every week

tajabaho1 Nov 18, 2007 11:22 PM

^ what? more like every 2-3 weeks, unless u are insane..........

Charles R. Hill Nov 19, 2007 07:11 AM

Nitrous on an AutoX or road-racing car will not pass tech inspection.

tajabaho1 Nov 19, 2007 09:47 AM

I think we already got over that because Ray told us Ray...........wait.........U told us that about 10 posts ago!
