New rx8 AT owner.

So anyone on here want to go through shifting/redlining in an AT in manual mode?

im not really good with shifting(hence the AT) but redlining is a must so i do drive it in manual to do that.

should i shift at specific RPMs everytime?

any help?

i own a 4AT 04 rx8

EDIT: i tried searching these AT threads but they dont talk to much about manual shifting...mostly about top speeds and different mods done to the AT rx8.

I would shift mine 4000 to 5000 rpm. Most all the time. And drove in Manual mode all the time.

Really? And then what just redline once a day...does it matter if i redline in first?
And i thought driving in manuel was bad?

Sorry im not good with shifting i havw no idea.

When your in say 3rd...do you actually downshift it into 2nd than 1st?
I realized it will do it for me when i stop.
Im just trying to learn the most and drive my car the healthiest/funnest way.

you can redline in any gear but first is the easiest one.

best thing to do is just play around with it, your can't really hurt anything. It won't let you downshift if doing so takes you over the rev limit.

You'll start to learn what works and what doesn't after a while.

one thing to keep in mind is don't forget you are in manual mode....I did that a lot when I first got the car.....

So driving in manual doesnt hurt the tranny? Is it just as if im driving it in drive?

and i noticed before it wouldnt let me down shift...im guessing i have to under specific rpms?

paddle shifting is just like being in drive except you need to remember shift up, it will still shift down automatically for you as you slow down.

thanks thats awesome..now i can actually drive with it in manual..

Now is ther anyway i can spin my wheels?
I know this car has very little torque but asking to double check wont hurt.

Do you downshift yourself when u stop at a light or stop sign? Or do you think its better for it to do it automatically

RX8's don't spin tires all that well on dry road surfaces. You will simply wheel hop if you attempt to. I don't even think its possible to wheel hop with an AT.

Shift it like you would a manual transmission. Only without the clutch.
Upshift, downshift. Rev match down shift. :naughty:
