FL New here 07 6 port auto

Hey guys been reading up on information here on the site, mostly read more then I post but this will be my intro in the automatic part of the forum.

Also just have one quick question.
I know there's a search but i read mixed answers on this, one being does the cobb remove the redline on the rx8? or only after it has been premapped from mazdamaniac. I also see that they say it will work on autos but i also see here (one thread below me i believe) that they dont have base maps for the auto and need to obtain them from MM.

Oh here is a pic of my 8 bone stock will be going through changes throughout the year.

Welcome to the club!

There are a few threads created over the last couple weeks regarding tuning for the auto rx8. I believe in one of the threads, there is a link to download a base map, but I could be wrong. I'll have a look...

Visit mazdamaniac dot com for more details, and send MM an email with regards to your questions.

EDIT: Read more thoroughly. Here is a post in the same thread you mentioned...

Hey! thanks for the reply and the clarification :D
I'm just trying to squeeze a bit more juice out of the 8, I personally love the 6 speed auto, but if i could get it to rev out a bit more then I would be in business.

I figured since it seems to be the same 6 port in the manual it would help out in overall power. But I'll need patience till i order the parts.

I don't know if I would move the redline to higher. I am sure it is there for a reason on the 4 port. Don't really know why the 4 port can't handle higher rpms.

From what I gathered theauto has the rpms cut to save the transmission in theory there is more power if removed but before I attempt this I'm getting a transmission cooler and transmission oil replaced. So like I said in theory if removed the auto can put more power.

Can the manuals carbon drive shaft also fit the auto?

The reason why the AT has the 7,500 rpm redline is because Mazda was not confident that the AT could handle the 9,000 rpm nirvana of the MT. You probably could remap it to 9,000 rpm, but you risk damaging it.

Yes. The MT driveshaft is just as long, but it is slightly smaller in diameter. There is a thread about converting an AT to MT by RotaryResurrection. http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/kl...p/DSCF1549.JPG
The MT shaft is the bottom one

the AT gearbox will handle the RPM's. Its the TQ converter that is the "weak link". It starts to lose its viscous coupling around 7500 to 8K. Hence starts to slip, a better TQ converter makes a world of differance with this car. >Level10.Com<

Update Turbo x's arrived early today and installing as I post. This pipe is so much lighter in comparison.
