Is AT more reliable and less prone to flooding?
Because it's impossible to stall the car by mistake when the engine is still cold. So the AT 8 is more reliable in a way provided you do the proper warm up / 6k revs every other day drills religiously? Thanks!

Having a AT also PREVENTS you from performing the easiest fix of an flooded engine, the pull / push start. Getting an AT because your worried about flooding is silly.
|
If anything a manual is more reliable being that they rev 1500rpms more than a AT 6spd.
|
The sticky says 6k rpm every other day is sufficient for general engine maintenance. :Wconfused

I wouldn't say the AT is more reliable.

I terms of sheer reliability calculations, the less complex the individual components the more reliable the overall system. An automatic transmission is a complicated unit with many moving parts. Having said that AT's themselves are far more reliable now then years past.
The premise of this discussion is rather silly however. |

This topic of discussion is just silly.

If you want reliability.... get a Honda or a Toyota
|
^ Heard on the news this morning that Toyota is shutting down its sales and manufacturing of many models due to a sticking accelerator issue, so .......
|
It's still a reliable car :) And at least they are addressing the actual issue and not allowing anyone else to be put at risk.
|
not any more!!!
