I've done some light drifts in my A/T. It's got the stock tires on it (which are pretty much the equivalent of bald tires  ) It's real easy to induce power oversteer in the A/T rx8 with the DSC off, just get the weight to transfer and mash the throttle. If you put the car in Manu-matic mode you can get some more serious drifting going, but your transmission won't thank you.

please dont do this on the road man. at some point youll probably regret it for one reason or another.

heh, you're from jersey dude. The roads where I'm from in texas are probably night and day from what you're used to. Hell one road here we do Touge style races down at night. There are lots of twisty country roads here in the hill country with no one around. It's easy to drift (depending on the technique being used) and I've done it many times in various vehicles. It all depends on your geographic location and well.... I got lucky.

I know its a real big sin but I have a few places in an industrial park where I can knock off 3 sliding turns in different directions(Notice I did'nt call it drifting:lol: )in certain intersections. I turn off the dsc with the 7 sec. hold down. Enter the turn in 2nd @ 29MPH, down-shift to 1st gear and gas it.

Off topic: xsniper, Looks like a choate stock. The action? does'nt look like a 700. A MK4 would look nice sitting on top!

offcourse you can drift yOff course you can drift your At rx-8 does it have lsd?? I mean I can’t do it because simple I can’t drift lol. But I was practicing on a open car parks once and I sort of did do a drift.
This is how I did the drift kept my gear at 2nd and got up to around 80km I think or I am not to sure but it was going pretty fast .
Then I just let go of the gas then steer my car left ways then quickly steer to the right at that point my car was sort of on the side ways then after that I just pushed gas.
I think it all about practice.
our at rx-8 does it have lsd ??

Depends on the trim level you have. I don't think the base ATs have an LSD. I have the GT and it does. I can't remember if the LSD came with the sport or the touring package to start.

they all come with LSDs i thought, and the GT comes with a Tochigi Fuji Limited Slip Differential... idk?

The sport model doesn't. I believe the touring is the model which it comes standard .

yushinrt 05-16-2008 08:32 PM

so who tried to drift in there AT after reading this thread ??

BlueKnight 05-17-2008 04:25 AM

I am not sure that it quite qualified as drifting but I did manage to get my 8 sideways. The control was pretty decent but not real sustainable. Of course, I was not really wanting to blow a set of tires by sustaining it either. lol
