Question Best performance modification

I have a 2004 stock AT with the P flash and am looking for a little extra kick 0-20. I am considering the RB REVi intake and the RB exhaust. Has anyone had any luck boosting the low end without spending several thousand dollars.

I realize the 4 port limitations and am not trying to get MT performance. Just was hoping for a little more low end. My wife's 2004 200hp Tribute gets my across an intersection much quicker than my RX8.

Other than than the sluggish low end, the RX8 performs very well. Much better than my 95 Miata.

Thanks...Jim

Jim-

Not really anything you can do to boost the low end. The intake and exhaust are only going to add a few HP and a bit more decibels. To get moving you need to get to the torque, and with the AT, that does not significantly happen until 4K rpms or so.

Personally, I don't have any issues with getting across intersections. I drive 90% in paddle mode. I will concede a V6 or V8 with more low-end torque will likely get you across the intersection quicker.

The rotary revs quickly ... don't be shy with the revs. See this thread:

I see you are from Atlanta. Have you heard of the RX-8 Club of Georgia?

The easiest way to boost the low end would be a higher stall torque converter. Unfortunately, at the moment, you'd either need a custom one or modify the stock one. Either of which is going to be a bit pricey (assuming you purchased a stock one to modify)
