Aluminum Gas Pedal Upgrade
I was looking at the part on Mazdatrix but wondering how difficult is it to install? Not sure if these are just a plug-in electrical switch or more complicated... Anyone have an install guide?
http://www.mazdatrix.com/8interior1.htm TIA! :) |
it's the easiest thing in the world, straight swap. The brake pedal is trickier getting the pad to fit etc. but the gas pedal is mega easy.
|
Ah, sorry, thought the MT might be diff from the AT... just wanted to make sure... wonder if Mazdatrix ships the parts with instructions? I want to replace the whole set down there, lol. Dead pedal, brake pedal pad, and gas :)
Thanks. |
Pics after install... :)

i have the aluminum pedals for sell if you're interested :)
|
Ah, bought them already. Arrived yesterday, all three pedals came with OEM instructions, sweet. Got clear corners too, no instructions but those are easy to do.
I'll try to do a DIY guide while I do it this weekend, weather permitting :) |
please do
i bought the aluminum pedals off a totaled rx-8...dead pedal and accelerator i can swap easily but the brake pedal is a different size gonna have to figure something out there :/ |
Is yours an AT or MT?
|
AT thats why the manual brake pedal wont fit :/
|
Tonicart, use a little liquid soap to install the brake pedal pad.
|
no its a completely different size...AT brake pedal is about twice as big
probably going to cut the AT pedal off and weld the manual on or maybe make my own aluminum piece to go over the AT pedal??? ill post a pic when i get home |
OK, so all three pedals came with "technical" Mazda install instructions. Great, if you have little magical gnomes that can fit in there and turn the little nuts.
I got the dead pedal on, easy. Gave up on the brake pedal pad. Gonna try the soap, thanks. The accel. pedal, omg, how do you get that top nut off? I got the socket wrench on there, but goddamn it's hard to torque and see what you're doing. The mazda dead and accel. pedals are basically the stock stuff with an aluminum plate/sheet attached to the top. Couldn't they just sell that alum. piece? lol... wish I had looked for better photos of the parts before I bought them. Tempted to just remove the alum. part of the accel. pedal and glue it onto the stock pedal! |
