Zex kit wth greddy turbo

so im getting a zex kit for my bday(old lady said she ordered it 4 me... wondering how it will fare with my upcoming turbo??

do it? or dont do it?

mscamp02 03-21-2010 06:17 PM

Im not sure anyone on heres is even running both simultaneously. Could be wrong though

Jedi54 03-21-2010 06:18 PM

don't do it.
as CRH mentioned: it's not needed and without a very good tune, I could see this ending very badly.

freaklinkmusic 03-21-2010 06:19 PM

well im scared to sell it since she bought it for my bday. Maybe I can make it look as if its hooked up. lol. if no one credible such as you, MM, or other rotary tech guys dont think its a good idea i wont hook it up at all

freaklinkmusic 03-21-2010 06:20 PM

funny thing is, she doesnt know that im getting turbo. She just happen to snoop behind me and saw I was looking at a zex kit.(wasnt planning to buy)

Brettus 03-21-2010 06:22 PM

I say you have an awesome GF - definately a keeper .

And yeah , don't hook it up ;)

If you are seriously close to getting/installing a turbo kit, then do that. If you are still a little while away from getting it, install the nitrous and enjoy it until the turbo kit arrives.

about 2 months away from the turbo. zex will be here on wednesday. jus a quik question, how long does a "full bottle" typically last?

Mr.We$t 03-21-2010 06:59 PM

Yea +1 on ^ I bought a kit from him ( which works excellent by the way thanx again Charles) and I got trigger happy and the bottle was empty in in 5dayz I was really tryna get adjusted to it so that's why I was trigger happy!
I ordered a second bottle and a bottle opener for the next stage of my project!

Side note: cahrles Ima send u some pix of my purge setup I just want ur input on some things thanx again!

ZumnRx8 03-21-2010 07:25 PM

Yea I'm trying to make a setup so that when the first bottle is empty the second bottle will open automatically!

You would be better off parallelling the bottles through a manifold and having your remote opener open a common valve between the two tanks.

I was gonna fabricate a relay that will activate the opener when the main bottle is empty is that what u mean?

Before I opine, would you care to share your logic as to why this is an attractive or desireable option?

Well the main reason is cuz where I live I have to drive an hour to fill up the tank and it doesn't last long enough for my taste!
Also I wanted to try and come up with some new ideas for a local buisness I started with some friends

paulmasoner 03-22-2010 05:33 PM

edit: ^^ got in before me, and was saying the same thing i was, but in a much more understandable and educated way

Mr.We$t 03-22-2010 05:39 PM

Maybe I misunderstood but that's what I mean I want 2 bottles in one setup but I don't want both bottles open at the same time. What I mean is when the first empties the second will open and be the supply

Nobody is misunderstanding anyone here. Something you may not realize is that nitrous systems operate best when the nitrous pressure is most stable. Your idea does not provide this as well as it could be achieved.

Ok i understand somewhat but I figured it was like adding a second stage to the system! Guess it's back to the drawing board

but in regards to what u were saying about the parallel bottles can u explain that a little more

Let me finish explaining the issue about pressure stability; when your nitrous tank is full it will have 900-950 PSI (depending on your ambient temperature). As you use it, the pressure drops. As it does this, your nitrous system will slowly (and slightly) begin to run a little richer. Once your tank reaches about 600 PSI it will be rendered useless and only have about 20% capacity. However long this takes depends on how you use your system.

With the plan you have this is what would happen with each tank.

If you were to parallel the tanks together, your pressure would remain in the optimal range for 2x as long until both tanks need to be refilled.

Now I understand completely and it makes sense y u would say it wouldn't work! So in parallel would it be that one bottle would keep the pressure of the other bottle in the optimal range?
Sorry for the rookie questions but I'm still learning

jeffRX 03-22-2010 10:55 PM

Oo! Oo! I have a question Charles! lol I'm not a physics major so I wouldn't know the answer to this but wouldn't having both tanks open also put 2x as much pressure into the lines? I would like to have two tanks but was worried by having 2 tanks open that the solenoids or even the threaded lines would be under emense pressure...

freaklinkmusic 03-23-2010 03:00 PM

easy have you looked into this?? didnt know if it was a legit manifold or not. never seen anyone use it.

yeah i know. i was referring to the user EASY, it was some dry humor being that hes blown up a couple manifolds

Nope. Same pressure, 2x the volume available.

very smexy. :yumyum: can't wait to install that second tank for your highly antisipated upcoming 150 shot upgrade lol

jeffRX 03-25-2010 12:45 PM

ohhh its gonna be sick! lol I can't wait to start beatin up on some of these faster cars i.e. camaros, stangs, vettes, moded evos, sti's, skittles, genesis..'s? youtube my name ( mehmehxxx ), if you're interested, I have a couple races on there.

Hay Jeff how long u been running nos on ur ride?
And what upgrade are u guys talking about I'm intereasted

jeffRX 03-26-2010 08:42 PM

about a year now i guess. the upgrade is being worked on by BHR but is a long way off unfortunately... :( right now the safest shot is the 55 offered by zex. if you have any questions everything is on the forum and if u can't find it then ask CHR. he knows all when it comes to nitrous. good luck
