turbo or not us 6 spds wont be able to use it because we have twin oil coolers.

Cheers

Damn thats nasty looking. You sure this is not photoshoped?

I was thinking about doing that but decided not to. I hate to have to pull the bumper out just to clean or inspect the filter. IT'll also block the the radiator.

Here is my DIY, and you can modify it to make it look your pic..

It'll work just fine with your FI car 'till you drive through a big puddle of water.

It would have to be a really big puddle, like a lake. I know a lot of honda's have cai that mount much lower than that and don't have many problems. You'd have to actually submerge it.

Are they FI? Water can do nasty things to a spinning compressor.

It will not work on North American Spec Cars, since we have twin oil coolers. This intake was made for the models with 1 oil cooler.

As far as HYDRO-Locking the engine, its pretty tuff to do. since water is more heavy than air...if the filter is 50% submerged in water....the air will flow around the water thru the remaining 50%.

Even if its totaly submerged you would have to go WOT or already be at WOT to suck up enough water. Its more likely you will stall the car out before you suck up enough water to do damage. My girlfriend has a CAI on her RSXs and she was driving thru a parking lot in the rain, car went thru a pothole full of water and splashed up...The car stalled out and woudnt restart (just cranked) I pulled out the MAF, blew on it to dry it off, then cranked the motor for a sec and after about 15 secs it fired up, had a bit of a ruff idle for a few mins and blew out some steam from the muffler, but after about 5 mins of idling we drove it around (once it was dry out) and took it up to higher RPM on the freeway...blew all that crap out.

Sure it did a little bit of wear and tear on the motor/cat ... but its fine.
