Where are superchargers in 2014?

I want the right system and i know supercharger tech has made some major increases in recent years.. Where do we stand in the rx8 world? Find me a good one and I'll build it.

RIWWP 06-28-2014 07:40 PM

There are none that are currently being produced.

Pettit may re-release theirs, but no word on if that will actually happen from what I've seen. All others are definitely dead.

l3eltinck 06-28-2014 07:43 PM

What about modifiable systems? Haltech standalone a with flying lead are like $800. I'm assuming those work fine with superchargers?

RIWWP 06-28-2014 07:46 PM

The Haltech is an ECU, not a supercharger, so I have no idea what your statement means or what you are asking.

l3eltinck 06-28-2014 07:47 PM

Modifiable system.. Pieced together supercharging system.. The haltech is a special version for rotaries.. Haltech Sprint re.

What would the ideal inter cooler/oil coolers/ fan/radiator/ oil pan/ supercharger parts/ref#s be?

RIWWP 06-28-2014 07:51 PM

Your clarification isn't really helping?

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess at what you are asking...

There is literally no company producing complete supercharger kits OR parts for kits, so you can't even assemble one with random parts.

A supercharger is a mechanically driven compressor that forces air into the engine. The ECU is for engine control. One does not affect the other. You can tune an engine with a supercharger the same as any engine without a supercharger as long as the ECU can run that engine. You don't even have to change the ECU, since you can tune a supercharger equipped RX-8 with the stock ECU just fine.

Alright. Check my edits

RIWWP 06-28-2014 07:53 PM

There aren't any part numbers because there aren't any parts. They aren't being produced by anyone.

Edit: Well, some of the basic stuff like raw piping to create an intercooler piping route or ebay intercoolers, whatever. But the critical stuff that makes a supercharger a supercharger.... that stuff isn't available. No gears, no belts, no pulleys, no compressors, no housings, no mounting plates....

l3eltinck 06-28-2014 07:53 PM

Basically all i will really need to know is what supercharger to buy and ill fab the rest...

l3eltinck 06-28-2014 07:54 PM

You can use a supercharger off the shelf on these cars, right? :p. I'm just not up to date. Most of my knowledge is 5 years old and i know some of the ones on the market today are up to 30% more efficient today. I'd like to hear from someone which to select..

RIWWP 06-28-2014 07:55 PM

No, you can't.

THERE ARE NO SUPERCHARGERS FOR THE RX-8 BEING PRODUCED BY ANYONE.

Period.

l3eltinck 06-28-2014 07:56 PM

Damn shame.

RIWWP 06-28-2014 08:02 PM

If you want one, your only hope is to find a used one, but they sell fast on here.

RIWWP 06-28-2014 08:05 PM

Do you realize that the supercharger being used in each thread you are posting in is listed in the first post, or the first few posts of each thread? Is reading too difficult?

Both of those are Hymee superchargers, and there were only 10 produced in the first run, and there was never a 2nd run as Hymee developed severe health problems. I believe that only 2 of those 10 made it to the US, the rest stayed in Australia.

WingleBeast 06-29-2014 12:53 PM

Thanks RIWWP.

I'll rip mine off my car and sell it for 10K

Camden SuperChargers - Get a Supercharger kit for you're Mazda Rx7 13B Rotary

It'd be a courtesy to everyone to delete this thread and counsel him privately

l3eltinck 06-29-2014 03:06 PM

No one have any experience with the people at the link i pasted?

Nedash 06-29-2014 03:36 PM

Read up on the differences between a 13B and a 13B-MSP first, then come back, please.

RIWWP 06-29-2014 05:43 PM

RX-7 does not equal RX-8. Completely different cars, different engines, different packaging, different electronics, etc...

l3eltinck 06-30-2014 10:09 AM

It was a custom supercharger company.. You guys are irritable. 13B is 13B. There are not that many differences between the engines other than the places where things junction. Similar sized and similarly powerful parts will work if you can get the custom work done.

Incorrect, and it's something that trips up many RX-7 experts around here.

But, if you think you can do it, go right ahead. No one stopping you, and plenty would like to see the progress.

The Multisideport version does have a plethora of differences.

As said before, if you think you can do it, go right ahead and take pictures along the way.

But please educate yourself well enough in advance about the engine,
otherwise you may or may not face slight dismay.

hoosier1104 06-30-2014 11:56 AM

If you are bound and determined to go FI, go with a turbo. There are packages still in production for half the price of SC. Just saying. :dunno:

Chrishoky 06-30-2014 02:57 PM

This dude isnt going to go out and do anything. He is too lazy to do his own research yet hes going to fab up some custom supercharger? Please...
