Greddy install build-Adaptronic
Just wanted to share my RX-8 buildup and catalogue the events good and bad. Typical Greddy turbo kit install minus the e-manage add some bits and remove some bytes. I picked up this used Greddy kit (minus e-manage) off kijiji in Montreal from a guy who no longer had the 8 and couldn't manage the install when he had it. I was flying there for work from Toronto and I literally picked it up from the guy and packaged it in my hotel room and shipped it back as checked baggage.
• Greddy TD06 turbo, manifold and down pipe
• Piping intercooler and couplers
• Sandwich oil plate with braided line
• Tial BOV with V-band
• AEM wideband gauge and O2
• AEM temp gauge for coolant
• Adaptronic Plug-In Select ECU
• Adaptronic SSI box for optional signals in Adaptronic fuel sensor
• Adaptronic electric boost controller
• Lo-tek center gauge pod (gaugepods.com)
• New ATP 0.50 bar waste gate
• Titanium heat wrap for down pipe
• Gold reflect tape for down pipe area on car body
• Greddy MM fix #2 for boost source to wastegate
Stumbling along with the install in my garage using jackstands, a couple long nights but getting ½ way there (no rush). I’m fairly good with mechanical stuff in my own opinion and own a lot of tools from my past profession; that being said, this is a real challenge for one person lying on their back. ........I'm learning a lot and reading a lot here on the forum. I’m not a big social media/internet guy so this build thread will be short. The plan is to run 9psi, stock injectors and new stock coils just to see how it goes. Then a tune in the spring by thewird.
As the car sits now
BB 2005 GT, R3 sides, MS wing, appearance package front and rears, jdm fog with switch, 10” sub box and amp, DNA exhaust, gutted cat, HSD coilovers, racingbeat end links, 9.5" +35 te37 reps, stock tires stretch. Summer driven and polished always.......
Will be adding as I go.... wish me luck.......

sandwich plate installed
turbo installed, now the challenge.... tighten the bolts. I'm guessing I might have to massage the down pipe area. this kit barely fits...... really surprising how Greddy managed this one...

maybe eventually.... I don't have the sensor for the ssi box yet and I don't know enough about it. also we have limited amounts of E85 at gas stations in Ontario. would be cool though.
The adaptronic ecu sells itself with all the support and the innovation. so excited to to get it all functioning.......

right now I have the down pipe and the lower fire wall protected. I will pick up some more reflectagold for the whole fire wall then and put it all over everywhere as high as I can go. I want this install right from the get-go... thanks guys.

^ this. That tape will last about a month. Maybe. After that it will melt the plastic support under the carpet, the carpet, and your passengers shoes,
I made a heat shield (see my build thread) and installed a turbo blanket (a PTP one from a Genesis fit perfect) and wrapped the down pipe and finally my passenger side floor doesn't get toasted.
Oh and mine burnt and was hammered out of the way quite a bit. If you didn't do any hammering then it will be even worse.

planning on re-circulating for as I feel there are too many guys driving around here in hatch-backs making swoosh noises. Kind of ruins the exclusivity of FI. guy buys a Genesis bolts on RFL blitz bov and drives around making car sneezes... played out.... again no reason I can't upgrade/ change later same with everything else on this build.
sort of overwhelming all the things that I can upgrade or change to be better. for now just want to get it started and put together for storage over the winter. spring/ next year is when the fun starts...
I sometimes feel I must be crazy to do such a project and spend the money considering the other options for vehicles and my how nice my current daily driver is.
