turbo question

Hello everyone . I have a simple question. Please don't bite my head off or anything, I'm still learning Mazda's. But I'm just curious, I have access to a speed protege Turbo ( apparently OEM). Now of COURSE I know I'm going to need manifold ecu etc. Its basicly just for intercooler ,piping , lines, and Turbo. Just to start me off on a build. Would the set up work? I searched by the way with no luck. I know its expensive too so please don't say something like I'm dumb. I've come from Honda forums with idiots sold my honda and have been looking and rx8 club seems like a good start for my rx

so what size turbo is it
Compressor inducer exducer
Turbine housing inducer /exducer
Turbine A/R
And what do you want : IE max HP or quick spool for street

1st post huh - how about reading a few threads in the major hp upgrades section then come back to us .

"2003 Mazdaspeed Protege oem turbo kit that was on car. This include intercooler, piping, radiator, twin fans, exhaust manifold, downpipe, t25 turbo with internal wastegate, oil lines and water line connector to run line to turbo. " there's what it is. I need to talk to the Guy for details. And just quick spool. Thanks, I've been going threw alot of posts. All very informative. Ill keep going threw posts.Just curious on this specific kind of setup

Hey man, this RX8Club not GeneralTurboDesignClub101. In other words, the reason you can't find the answers here is because your answer is not RX8 specific. They have these things called books that you buy then have to sit, read, and study for many hours to figure that kind of stuff out Even then it may take years to grasp the right way to go about it. You ask people not to bite your head off because you knew in advance that your questions are not bright. If money is not an issue then why are you going about it this way? I don't want to bite your head off. I just want to delete this and send you a private note to find some common sense.

Coming from Team this translates to "show up at your door and beat some sense in you"

Turbo is too small, and there aren't many OEM vehicle turbos that will work for a rotary.

If you are on a budget this one will work fine and make 400rwhp

His long lost brother? Reality hits you hard right?

nomar12369 01-27-2012 04:08 PM

I know about turbos on normal easy engines like lets say Honda's , but not that experienced on rotaries . Hence why I asked on a rx8 forum. But thanks for the responses

No you don't. The basics of Turbocharging are the same for both a Honda and a Rotary. Except Honda's typically handle being boosted a bit better so you don't need a rebuild every 30,000 miles

Alright then thanks for telling me I don't know something that I've been doing since my first car. And as for the common sense response thank you aswell for helping me understand my question. Really helps alot. Nice warm welcome guys.

You asked is a MSP turbo setup would work on an RX-8. If you knew anything about turbcharging you would know that it would not work. So by starting this thread you already proved how little you know. It's not a knock on you really, just the reality of the situation. You are new to the RX-8 so you have a lot to learn and it is obvious you have not researched the major horsepower sub forum (or any other forum for that matter). This forum has been around 8 years so anything and everything you could think of has probably already been asked an answered so just search for it. Your welcome.

There are numerous threads here that can educate you to some degree, but not in all regards. It takes effort and determination to master any complex design strategy, assuming you are capable. There is no magical pill that will make you a master rotary turbo specialist. Get off your duff and get to work. Google is a great place to start your journey.

nomar12369 01-27-2012 06:06 PM

Well then thank you guys for the constructive criticism

TeamRX8 01-27-2012 06:18 PM

That's the spirit. You just moved up a notch on my respect scale.

Since when did I care what you or anyone else thinks about what is important to me?

I'm just giving his some feedback that that is a much more appreciated and respected strategy than the sullen little boy replies. It will serve him well in life to carry that approach forward in everything he does.
