Thinking of ordering the Mazsport Type 3 Kit... Suggestions?
 

I want to boost the 8 really bad. Couple questions.

1. I live in Knoxville, TN. There is nobody here that will work on the 8 besides the dealer. If I followed everything right, Can I install the kit myself?

2. Is there any other things that I would need to purchase if I ordered the kit?

I haven't seen the install instructions for Mazsport's turbo kit, but their instructions and tech support are unparalleled. You CAN install the kit yourself. Tuning is very important. Scott may be able to recommend a shop near you that can dial the car in.

You should consider a new clutch to go with your new turbo kit. The stock one won't last long with your new power.

merry xmas.... i woudl say its a judgement call... if you feel your capabilities are there i would say do it... he makes the kits install friendly for everyone... the instructions and fitment is fantastic...

but the thing you have to worry about is tuning.. the interceptor will come with base maps but you HAVE TO get the thing tunned... so based on that you have to decide whether or not there is a place that can tune the car because its the most important part...

I would say the mazsport kits are going to be far more difficult to install then the greddy, not because they aren't well made, but because it's so much more comprehensive and comes with a lot more parts (that you'll need/want to get anyway).

For example, the greddy install involves installing a few pipes with couplers, hooking up the turbo and manifold, and plugging in the fuel management. The mazsport kits come with upgraded fuel pumps, larger fuel injectors, and engine mounts. It's going to take a lot longer and involves more effort.

but at the same time when you install it you know your car and how to fix it... its an experience that you will never get if someone does it for you but you have to be sure you can and want to do it

it's more difficult to bring the car to a shop when you've part way ripped it apart only to find out you can't finish the job :)

well pete i am home alone as well come through... back tot he topic... mysql you are absolutely right... you need to make sure you can and feel comfortable doing the job... it will pay off in the end.. but if you do not have a mechanical bone in your body please bring it to a shop

I feel that I am capapble. I also have a good friend who does works on Mustangs. He has a huge shop with a lift, air tools, welders, etc. I guess my only speedbump is like you said earlier. Tunning. Again, shops around here are slim to none. Know of any good places within 3hrs or so?

I don't know anyone in your area, but Scott could probably guide you to some microtech dealers that could do the tuning.

Forgot something to buy: boost controller.

I would be willing to drive to TN to assist during weekends for both the installation and tuning parts. As many times as I have removed the parts from my engine(electrical, intake, etc.) I can do it in my sleep and in less than 30 minutes. Besides, I could drive my 8 down and we would have an example car if we forgot where a stock parts went. :)

If you have help like CHARLES ... and tools LOTS OF them and all kinds you should can do it in 2 full days... i think. let us know what you want to do and if you are doing it take lots of pics.
