Some things in the works:
  • 6 Port + 6MT transmission swap
  • Clutch Kit
  • Shift ****

Will retain stock ECU, suppress the TCM U0101 code with the AP, and run APV and P2s directly off the Adaptronic. Plan is to have this done by end of Summer.

Subbed. This will be interesting to follow. .

The one regret I have about buying my boy his R3 is the limitations on readily available easy ecu tuning options. C'est la vie. *shrugs*

Good luck with the sale.

lost my rear rotor on the 4 port last week. 6MT conversion has begun.

75,000 miles on the ODO -- 50,000 boosted. Was a good run.

yeah, normal shop ... he's doing the rebuild of the 6MT I ordered today too. Will likely not end up with much left of the 4 port block itself when all is said and done. shop has already offered to buy it anyway.

Parts acquired (in addition to the motor/trans above):

-New T618Z (moving existing water jacket + WG actuator to it)
-Clutch pedal assembly
-Internal shift boot / seals / ****
-MT steering wheel (portions used to replace paddles)
-MT gauge cluster
-CF drive shaft
-SS undertray
-SS oil cooler lines
-6MT engine harness
-Master Cylinder

Basic Plan:

Use my Adaptronic's extra pigtail to control the P2 injectors and the APV.

MEP will suppress the TCM CEL that's going to get thrown by my 4AT ECU.

Ignition wired / spliced to starter (bypass neutral)

Stock P1s - 4 port Secondaries in P2 and ID1000s in Secondaries

Live without cruise control

Nice! Who's doing the work? How much power did you end up making on the 4 port?

the 4 port never made much over 230 boosted ... I think I have a dynosheet showing 235 at one point.

Progress being made.... rebuild of new to me motor is done. going in with the 6MT transmission next week.

Speed1 is doing the rebuild / install. I'll be swinging over to do the final tuning once ready.... looking like another week or two.

Had to pick up a new clutch plate too... the one on the eBay motor was toast. I'm starting to get anxious.

-----

Unrelated I got a PM from someone who as the ability to send PMs to full inboxes and rather than go thru the BS to clean out my inbox (yup -- still protesting the lame limits here) I'll just reply here:

Rear Sub Reference

Posts 32 thru 37 here show all you need for tapping into the low power speaker signals for the rear amp: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...e2/#post252129

I did ground right to the body in the rear and ran a beefy (6 gauge) lead directly from the battery (with a nice fuse immediately after the battery) to the trunk thru the firewall and door channel. I used the center console power outlet for triggering accessory (key on / key off).

I had the box custom built one afternoon at a local car audio shop utilizing the sunken cargo area. You'll need a shallow sub if you go this route.

Or you could just run four ID1000 in P2 & Sec positions and leave the OE P1s unwired. You can even just bypass fuel straight to the Sec rail.

I still have to get the APV to open, or are you suggesting doing this with the Select?

Another dilemma I have (just thought of this one a week ago) is that I've got the Griffin AT radiator that is now going to have an empty lower section because there'll be no ATF to keep cool.

I'm curious to see what this does to water temps in the new setup, if anything at all.

Another novel idea I had was to use it as a 3rd oil cooler.

I doubt it will affect anything at all, a lot of the OEM style aftermarket replacement radiators from Calsonic/Koyo have the cooler integrated as they manufacture one radiator to fit in either the AT or the MT.

That seems like a separate issue I'm not sure if the Adaptronic can do this without the OE interface?

I was only looking at your injector remarks and suggesting what I perceive to be a simpler alternative. I haven't actually idled on the P2 injector position yet, but am not expecting any major problem with it. I would expect that firing an extra pair of injectors is maybe a bigger issue since you don't have that OE feature to begin with. Again, not familiar with any of these areas since mine is all OE 6-port from the get go ...

Rebuilt 6 port motor is running. Threw a TPS position error after a couple drive cycles and went into limp mode. need to diagnose issue (going to try a different throttle body) but looking pretty good.

all injectors are firing (verified via Adaptronic WARI software) so once the TPS issue is solved I'll be able to get her on the dyno.

I'll be putting (already started) a bunch of **** up for sale in the classifieds.

Team, I do like your alternatives and they'd certainly work. The only thing you didn't address was opening the APV with 3A to 3P missing.
