rev limit and nitrous

Is it safe to hit the rpm cap while spraying? Can't seem to find any data on this.

The reason I ask is I have the 6port AT and 7500 rpm can sneek up on you. Is it safe to floor it through the gears? Or should I let off WOT while shifting?

What happens if I have it floored and hit the rev limiter? Will I experience a catastrophic backfire that will blow my intake to pieces?

... Just some things I'd like to know... so the mad scientist won't have to worry about ripping apart my block, and replaceing the piston rings I fried.

I cant help your question but you may need to do a little reaserch. If you blow piston rings your on the wrong forum.

easy1e had a lot of experience with n02 on an auto. look for his posts/threads. i know he went through a few intake manis. i run n02 but i have a stick and shift at ~8k

I wouldn't.

I've blown one manifold while tuning. Main issue is that when throttle plate is closed the Nitrous pools, and it's easy to get a manifold backfire. Rule of thumb, anytime your throttle plate is not at WOT and air is not moving through the intake track at full speed; the wet NOS system can backfire into the intake.

So maybe install a throttle based solenoid. To cut nitrous when you lift to shift?

Kane,
Are you using the BHR NOS plate?

the brains of the recomended zex kit is programmed when you install it to only spray at wot. im not saying backfires dont happen cause the do but ive been lucky over the years. i have the bhr plate on my set up

Yeah but Ray, he's talking about shifting while spraying...I'm just saying based on my observations, that is a bad idea.

It was Bobby, hitting the on switch too soon.....newb.

Kane 09-15-2014 05:28 PM

Nah, probably open, but WOT at 4000 isn't enough airflow sometimes...haha.

Kane 09-15-2014 08:27 PM

Yeah, he hit it at 4200 ish.... even though I told him 4500 on the tach, LOL.
