Questions and opinions for boosting the 8
first I will start off by saying I do read a lot about boosting the rx8, and I know the club admins are serious about just throwing up pointless threads. Most of anything I put up on the site will be questions that I have.
I'd honestly would like to know what would really be better for my 8, to get a supercharger or go with a turbo. I am definitely all for a superchargers and not for turbo at all, reason being is that I think turbos are "messy" you can say, the oil lines, exhaust gasses, and i'm sure with the rotaries known problem of carbon build up, it would build up on the impeller in no time. I am leaning more toward a self oiled application. Also if it is recommended to go turbo I just want to say its impossible to get a turbo manifold without purchasing a kit. let me know if there is a place i can just get the manifold if possible. I really don't want to get a kit, I understand the difficulties of a custom build. all I am wanting is to get a little boost on my car not enough to blow my engine but just enough to hit that 160mph range and better acceleration. if I get a S/c it'd be a procharger or rotrex, fab a bracket to really hold the thing in place, no intercooler, i'd just do a legit cold air intake similar to ones where the filter seats just behind the grill of the car. id get new injectors cause I know its needed for boosting, Bov, and boost controller, and tune it with access port Just would like opinions and thanks for replies. |
IMO you haven't read enough.
You don't know half of what it takes to build your own kit, trust me. |

alright well it seems that I haven't read enough about it, i know my scenarios can be long to read and i do the best i can with length and just like to make sure i get all the details, but if it is not recommended do go through all that, then maybe i'll just have to invest in a kit. thanks

I see a Mustang in your future ...

A turbo will always be more efficient than a supercharger.
You can't blame the turbo for design, installation and tuning flaws operated by dumb mechanics or diy users who shouldn't even attempt to fix their lawnmower. |
If you do an advanced search on the site for turbo vs supercharger, there are literally 50 threads about it already. Id start there.
