Question about Superchargers

Yes I searched the forums. But hmm Im kinda new to these kind of upgrades. so far I 've only did the Suspension related kinda of thinggy. I guess its time for me to move up to the next level (Major Horsepower upgrade that is)

Ok. I search thru most of the site and reviews. Now Im thinking the 8, is better to be supercharged than turbocharged. due to its design (engine that is)

Anyway :

Blitz SuperCharger. I heard very good things about them in the past. Well, for xA/xB and Celica and some others. but hmm, the 8 Version, I see them on Blitz Japan site selling for around USD 5000~. They have it in UK, just not the states. Yep I searched and someone said Blitz said they're working on the fuel map which I think its kinda hard due to the stupid eCU's nature. but Im wondering. Quality-wise, Blitz is pretty good right ? (forget about the price for now)

Ok, lets say I do have whatever-brand SuperCharger installed. What kind of "gauges" I really need, my thoughts are : Water Temp, Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, and Boost. Did I miss anything? and What kind of Gauges are "good" ? Its all the same right? if it is I can just stick with Blitz (again) or Defi I guess.

What needs to be aware of? Super/Turbo will add more stress to the engine for sure, any special care I need to do ?

Thats all I can think of right now. Thanks for looking ! (It will be great if any of you guys can answer my stupid questions)

Nycgps, I'am going to be very nice and say " Please, Please search this forum, if you can't find those answers and MORE your just not looking...

nycgps 02-09-2006 11:11 PM

Thanks for the answer, Yes I did search and yes I looked thru like at least 100 pages.

well, Im just generally asking about if Blitz is good cuz I never had them before. Gauges that I need. how to take proper care of Turbo/Super if I have any. its pretty simple stuff.

Im still looking at the pages that I searched, and yes I read over 100 pages and im still going to look till Im happy with what I see.

If you dont want to answer its fine, but your input did not help.

I would not waste you time with blitz. They are, from what i hear, high quality but there are better things coming out for the price of that unit. Check out the axial flow supercharger. It'll be in the same price range maybe cheaper and have much more bang for the buck. There are also a few turbo kits coming out in due time like the PTP kit and Ciao's kit ( ciao is a member here that has made a custom kit which he plans to produce)

Blitz is way overpriced stuff if you ask me. I also seem to remember it only put down about as much as the Greddy kit, but costs almost 2-3x more. I would suggest looking into your other options. Greddy and SFR are the only kits available right now, and there's very little feedback on the SFR kit. The Greddy kit had some problems at first, but most of those have been worked out. It is a decent kit that will get you 240hp out of the box and close to 300hp with a few other mods. If you go with the Greddy kit I highly recommend either switching to the Interceptor, or altering the emanage fuel scheme to the improved method described on this site. If your car is on the R flash, you will definitely need to go with the Interceptor. Unless you wait for Greddy to release the patch.

If you really want to go the SC route, then wait for RP's or Hymee's product.

For gauges, get whatever brand you want. The more expensive ones tend to me a little more accurate than cheaper ones. But, to be honest, I only bought Defi because it matches the stock gauges. Autometer is accurate enough in my opinion.

I would definitely get A/F and boost. Any other ones are good to have, but not nearly as critical. In order of preference I would get EGT, oil temp, water temp.

To increase engine life, you can get the RB oil pump mod, ceramic coat all the hot parts, add an oil cooler, upgrade your radiator... Many other things as well. But none of that is necessary.

rkostolni , where do you live? If possible can I come and give ya a kiss ?

:D

See, This is the excatly answer I looking for ! Thanks a bunch !

*Page bookmarked*

Hmm, I forgot about the A/F gauges yes Hmm.

Well Blitz is way overpriced I think, at first I was like hmm, Blitz looks good but until I see the "estimated Retail pricing of 7000" my heart stopped for a few seconds.

But hmm, upgrades like these always costly ... so ... hmm

Anyway, Heres my newest "upgrade run-down" :

Hymeee / SFR / Blitz(?...) SC (I still wanna go SC)
RB oil Pump mod
Mazdaspeed Radiator
Oil Temp,Oil Pressure, Water Temp, A/F, Boost
Yes Im on R flash. So ... will see about that

Some questions tho, Whats EGT again ?

and Ceramic Coat on all hot parts ... I think I can do that myself.

egt= exhaust gas temp

nycgps 02-11-2006 06:34 AM

Add that to my list ...

Ok ... now waiting for the most important part to come ...

ok I have a silly question...whats r-flash? and nycgps...I think we have the same idea as far as major upgrade..so I want to say thanks to you and everyone that replied to your questions...i'll keep reading for more info =0)

nycgps 02-11-2006 10:11 PM

You can say Whatever-Flash is the software version "number" for your Car's PCM (The computer)

R is the newest one out there as far as I know, it fixed most of the problems with the Car. (but its still a pain in the ass to work with, when u want to add SC/TC to your engine.

stealth-x8 02-12-2006 09:27 AM

thanks..good too know this is turning out to be more of a pain then anything else..would anyone happen to know of a rotary specialist in fort laurderdale or miami..even west palm?
