Odd nitrous question

I spent about an hour or so looking around this forum for anyone whos question is similar to mine but Im sorry I didn't find anything.

For starters Im a novice when it comes to rotary engines and nitrous oxide so bear with me.

Anyway, Im wondering if there is a practical daily driver use to nitrous oxide for our cars? Ie. Can I use nitrous oxide to help me pass people on the highway? Other than an AEM intake and an HKS exhaust my car is completely stock and NON-turbo.

Im asking cause I have to drive on a ridiculous 2 lane highway between Palm Desert and Temecula everyday and I just don't have enough power to pass cars quick enough.

I realize Im probably gonna get a lot of flack for this thread but Im curious and can take it.

Read the thread a couple of from yours (Its a Sticky) - https://www.rx8club.com./showthread.php?t=122645

Also Charles R Hill (Black Halo Racing) is a good person to talk to about a nitrous set up.

PS - I grew up in Palm Desert (Go Aztecs!)

A nitrous setup has very little applications other than street use or drag strip use. Technically it could be used as a means of overtaking vehicles but if used on a daily basis that could become an expensive method.

Nitrous is great in that you don't have to have a pile of modifications to use it.

I used it just fine on a daily driver (but using it for what you said will be expensive...), remember the common setup used with this car (zex 82021) activates only at WOT. With that said, if you're passing cars while operating the engine at less then 4000 rpm, you will not want to engage the nitrous. At anything lower then 4000rpm you have the fuel/nitrous mix injected into an insufficient vaccum and you have the chance of some of it being blown back into the intake enough for it to puddle and go BOOM. Happened to me once.

And unless your daily commute consists of supercars.. dropping it into 3rd or even 2nd will give you enough power to pass just about any car that isn't intentionally trying to cockblock you..

I don't get it..

Thanks for all the help, no im not passing supercars lol. Just its mainly uphill and I was getting tired of shifting down 2 or 3 gears.. Im going with a cobb AP and BHR ignition system instead of Nitrous for now. Charles was a huge help.
