Compressor surge .vs blow-off valve
Is a BOV really required on a Greddy turbo'ed RX-8?
I know they did not include one in the kit but the kit was setup for 6psi. Would I need one if I up the boost?
I much prefer the sound of compressor surge over BOV.

Finally Boosted!!!!!!!
How much do you enjoy the sound of rebuilding your turbo? Thats what your going to be doing if you don't use a BOV.

Crap.
So why would Greddy not include one in the kit?
I already got a brand new Tial BOV for free so I am not complaining.
I am just curious why they didint feel the need to include it.
Also, how much will the BOV effect the stock base map?

yeah, you'll want a BOV. If you recirculate it, not much change is needed.
If you don't have one yet, I recommend this:

Any other BOV and you will get some surge at low rpm or leaks at high.

Now if I install it to recirculate, does that makes the BOV more quiet?

if you don't adjust anything, the car will bog down as you shift, and you'll be blowing a lot of flames because it expects air that you just released via bov ... so you end up with too much fuel and not enough air in the engine.
