old news.
If this is old news please enlighten us with the completed project, as I have not seen it.
the steering geometry on that 8 is screwed, mines messed up and only moved the rack 4". from what i see with that the rack would be lower and farther forward wich = bad..thats why you havent seen finished pics.
the steering rack became the engine mounts?
how is that ok? |
Lol yeah that's far from ok. It will make a great drag car maybe
if you want a vette, get a vette..... not some frankenstein rx8 with the engine of a vette
this is new

With what I've put into my car already, I could have easily bought a corvette. Cars are a hobby. You can't sweat this stuff. |
I have to admit that the engine is a monster in there. It's so much higher up and forward than the renesis that I would have to think really hard before deciding to do something like that.
wow , that 8 is just an epic failed.
rofl look at that ls7 sticks out all the way at the bottom. rofl |
what is the size difference between the ls1 and ls7? I wonder if the ls1/2 would be a better fit. the lsx motors do seem to fit in the rx7 better but maybe better subframes are the reason for that
yeah the rx7 platform is way more forgiving with this swap.
I think the 2.3L disi engine from the mazdaspeed vehicles would be a pretty cool swap.
actually after my experiences with doing a swap in this car IMO the easiest engine would be a 93 4.3 chevy v6 with the vortec manifold. i had one of these in a truck one time before and it can make serious power. Only problem is weight, it has an iron block and you can kiss even weight ratio goodbye.but with it being shorter you wouldent have to mod the steering. Im actually probably going to try this in a year or so.
