L337fpc's Build - Custom Street Port
1 Attachment(s)
It's been a while since I've posted anything about my car lately. That's because I've been a bit busy planning my track build and getting seat time setup with NASA in the NE region.
Currently the motor has been completely cleaned, custom ported, and rebuilt. She'll go into the Blueberry by the end of the week (hopefully) and then its tune/dyno time. Here is a teaser of the build. Attachment 289515 Even though I have a GT, my goal is to get her weight down while I gather seat time and test this current porting setup. In November/December of 2012 WankelWorks and the REZelse team will create a f'ing nasty 13b-msp. Build plan for this season can be found here. |

Build details
I have about a weeks worth of work to finish on the car before the new motor can be dropped in. However, I will get this motor dyno'd the day it is broken in just like I did 2 years ago. RB Street Ports with the Stage 3 tune (plus a header leak and FUBAR'd spark plug thanks to JPR: more to come on that one soon) 188whp/134wtq Attachment 289514 |
reserved for moar updates

healthy street ... maybe bridge? ... we have seen 200whp on a good tune on stock porting (TNC member) ... 220 is our goal with this motor ... we have some other parts too in the works in addition to this
|
about 5-7 peak hp over an identically prepared factory port engine, maybe 10hp max with a pro built engine using new rather than re-used critical parts

Teaser video of the idle
Working on the tune, clearing some silly CELs, swapping a new diff in, and then she is ready for the break in. As of right now I was able to get some dyno time reserved in mid april. Oh and that's a temporary exhaust setup. More to come about the exhaust in the coming months. |
Great build and great looking engine bay. Very clean.
I hope your new exhaust setup doesn't involve the oem header.. |

Seems that I forgot to post this update here...
Build Update Well after waging a war on rust from PennDOT rocking my suspension links...she'll be on her own wheels and running this weekend. Pretty much had to cut the bolts free since they were 100% frozen in place. In the post there is a pic of one of the tie rods that was being...well...a hooker. Next post and updates will be this weekend. Next weekend is going to be packed with goodies as well. Depending how things line up with tuning, I am trying to get some baseline dyno runs before NJMP. |

Thread is a lil old but Nice build! I have a question, After the port, did you had any idle problems. I don't have a Cobb yet and the car is getting done this friday, just wondering if it would be fine without any tune for another week.
|
It will run, but tuning is recommended. I would limit your drive time as much as possible until you can get it tuned.
|
Thanks, will do!
