"Internals for rotary"
 

altho i have driven my 8 for some time, but im still fairly new to the rotary scheme..
anyways, for conventional engines, if FI is installed forged pistons, rods, etc is installed, for rotary, are there any "internal" upgrades if FI is used and if boost is upped for good reliability of the engine?

You definately have to upgrade the muffler bearings when adding boost to the rotary! Actually the only internal modification you can make (I think) would be better apex seals. However if you have good engine management and a proper tune you do not need to upgrade any internals.

I think as long as your cooling system is functioning well, you'll be ok. :) Too much heat could kill the engine.

racing beat has lightened rotors for the 8, but they are no stronger and are the same compression...

as far as COTS goes, that's it. but you wont need anything until until you get to god levels of boost.

Anyway i can go about altering compression?

you can have the bathtub (the recess on each face of the rotor) machined out, but I don't know how far you can go before you seriously comprimise the integrity. no one's tried it yet.

The casting on the Renesis rotors is thinner than any other rotors and there were issues with machining out some of the last ones so I wouldn't try that.

There aren't as many things you can do in a rotary to strengthen it as there are in piston engines. You can spend $1600 to get ceramic apex seals but there is no guarantee that you still won't hurt them. The bearings are actually quite nice compared to the older rotaries. The stationary gears are already hardened. The housings already have a harder coating on them. You get the point. It's going to be hard to do much else to the motor in terms of strength.
