SEARCH,READ,SEARCH SOME MORE, READ SOME MORE, SEARCH SOME MORE, AND THEN SELL YOUR RX8.

The wallbashing indicated by the above post is a fair approximation of one of the steps of doing a turbo installation.

StealthTL 10-06-2011 11:30 AM

Yes the RX-7 stock turbo was a paragon of durability and bullet-proof reliability.

Go for it.

Ask here for more advice as you get to where the exhaust ports are in a different place, we will have answers.

9k is just playing. You can use any turbo from any car or truck on the rx8.

I smell Deja vu in this thread ....

+1 ^ I thought this was the same thread as yesterday. Jeesh, this is getting crazy with all these ridiculous questions. Man, makes me worried about whats going to happen to my insurance rates in the next year or so, all these people getting RX-8s cant be good our costs.

tofu_box 10-06-2011 12:36 PM

its obviously possible to put a rx7 turbo in a rx8 that has a rx7 engine in it, tongue twister.

MazdaManiac 10-06-2011 12:41 PM

Brace yourselves for these sort of threads.

Many RX-8s are moving on to their 3rd and 4th owners and are worth only $4k - $9k, which means lots of young and potentially stupid new owners.

RIWWP 10-06-2011 12:45 PM

I have been debating posting a "turbo my 8" comparison in this thread, but the next one I sure will. One of them, I admit, is based on you MM

I looked at that and amended it for you.

:tear: They wont research far enough to figure out they have to check the oil, or change it for that matter, then we will have lots of "My RX-8 needs a new engine"

StreetGT 10-06-2011 08:55 PM

mmm yes, very, very "possiable".

you would just need to replace the exhaust manifold, downpipe, downpipe adapter, intercooler bracket, probably the intercooler itself, all oil hosing(you don't reuse that sort of thing..), most of the vacuum hosing, all compression pipes, all suction pipes, then of course you would most likely need to by a new turbo.

There are a few companies out there that do this sort of conversion, Greddy, Turblown and Esmeril are a few of them

TeamRX8 10-07-2011 06:48 PM

hammering him for not searching is fair game

zoom44 10-07-2011 06:51 PM

closed. team sneaked one in while i was deleting some. had to cut the posts somewhere. at any rate. you get the idea op. you need to do alot more reading and lest thread starting. also please dont start duplicate threads in various sections of the forum. we consider that spamming. too much of that and we'll ban you. fair warning.
