How good is a custom Rx8 Turbo
Ok, so we all read into the forums and search thru the web and as we all know the high market cost for a new RX8 turbo basiclly is over $3,000 USD shipped. We also admire many applications such as Mazsport Tune 1,2,3 or Esmeril Supercharger applications etc. and of course the Greedy kit which we all know that for the price really doesn't boost to our expectations.
Has anyone experienced a custom made turbo and what are the odds of beating the actual market products in sale right now, We all believe and want to know if there has been some people who've experienced or want to believe a lower cost and feel a reasonable power compared to stock. |

Please do more reSEARCH! Oh and no kit boosts to expectations, they are machines, they boost to specifications. |
BTW Esmeril isn't a supercharger its a turbo ;)
Personally I believe that the esmeril kit is the best turbo available simply because its a complete kit, their tech support is awesome, and it very reasonably priced. But then again I could be considered biased because I own their kit :) |
Unless you have hook-ups (i.e. knowing a fabricator or owner of a speed shop) a custom kit is going to cost you A LOT more money in the end.
Think about it, you are paying for R&D time to fabricate a manifold, downpipe, cold side plumbing, etc, and then the time to actually make said products, test fit them, make revisions, and so fourth. It won't be a cheap proposition. The other problems I foresee is the RX-8 is rather unique in the rotary engine, and the fact it isn't a very popular tuner car, so most shops have never seen under the hood of the 8 let alone wrench on one, coupled with the rotary engine, this can lead to improper turbo size selection, and various other difficulties. |
