On the horizon: Peripheral Renesis results
We are testing a Peripheral Exhaust Renesis from Brian Cain at BDC Motorsports in the next month or so. I'll keep everyone posted. Brian and I thought it might be interesting to introduce this subject so people could start thinking about this and ask productive questions.
If you want to argue that this doesn't work or is stupid---stay off this thread. One of you is probably going to debate about this and just to let you know I am not going to be kind because I'm sick and tired of you putting me in a position of defending that which I've found to be true. You know who your are. Others know who your are. Stay off this and other threads I start please.

You might (not sure) get to peak through the spark plug openings. Not sure they make a scope that can fit through the plug openings.

FYI we will be using the original 3 exhaust and then adding the 2 for a total of 5. The header will be crazy to make and is the primary reason this project will take a bit before we fire the motor.
There is one person I know of that is using the 5 exhaust runner/PPort Renesis. He is very well known. He has hours and hours on his engine. It may be turbocharged and he may own a company in Southern California and sells lots of rotary parts and services.

How many degrees of overlap does this create?
Are you hoping this will alleviate exhaust heat and pressure on the side seal issues, or looking for something more than that?
Are you switching to RX-7 apex seals/corner seals to accomodate the peripheral port?
I've always wondered if such a configuration NA will lead to more reversion because there simply won't be enough exhaust gas for the port area available...then again, perhaps with the introduction of overlap scavenging will alleviate that...

Welcome to the RX8Club, Eric. We at BHR have been through (since 2003) all that which seems to irritate you and we can empathize with your current frustration.

Yes

Packaging (the space in and around the exhaust area for those who are new to this term) will dictate how much exhaust we can cram into that space. Probably need to make a tricky right side motor mount.
