Help needed quick! Greddy related ecu issue
So me and my buddy pulled the car apart to install the turbo and we're almost finished putting the car back together but, im missing the vacumm solenoid for the greddy e-manage ultimate.
I do have an accessport so I'm wondering if its safe to download a base turbo map somewhere and run with that. If so where would I get one? |
2 things..
if you have the AP you would have to get the base map or the tuning from someone who knows what they're doing. if you're running the greddy e-manage for now then you def need one. check with greddy. i wish i kept mine, i wouldve sent it your way. |
Thanks! However I heard people put maps up online. Is it possible to copy theirs or download them?
My main problem is that the car must be driven away by today because we both have work tomorrow and dont know what to do... |

My main problem is that the car must be driven away by today because we both have work tomorrow and dont know what to do... Don't know of many boosted Maps online and typically they are useless as each RX8 requires its own tune, especially boosted. Warning Warning: You can drive the car on the stock tune just do not go in to boost It sounds like you've gotten yourself in to a bit of a hole without thinking things thru :suspect: You need to contact Kane or MazdaManiac or someone before you destroy the engine. If it runs, great! Just stay out of boost until you get the Ignition and Fuelling under control |

Lol I read alot of Kane's stuff and i'd be happy if he could help but I'm in Toronto haha
|
it's either Kane or Mazdamaniac (www.mazdamaniac.com) anyway...
Remote tuning in both cases i guess. |

I live in Orangeville Keep the testosterone under control (aka don't smash the go pedal) and I will help you, tune your car. You can reach me on Google Talk, we can bullshit there ... hit me up. PM me if you want my Gtalk address go slow ... do not load the engine up |
Was that a far distant northern ping I just heard?
Seriously heed WCS's warning.... no boost until tuned |
I can help you out too ... if you run AP ... I hope you are not using the greddy MAF housing
|
I drove home as everyone said and didnt go into boost. Slowly reving up to 4K and shifting.
My O2S had a bit of shreded wire though and I patched it up with a bit of electrical tape. The car wasnt starting and blew the "egi comp 1" fuse repetatively until I wrapped it. |
Please tell us more about your setup
Injectors? Fuel? Gauges? edit http://www.downfallguild.org/sites/w...mages/BUMP.jpg |
toss the emanage ... put cobb on
get this http://www.rx8performance.com/produc...d-air-intake-1 or make one for 1/4 of the price .... if you have an AEM intake, you can modify that you can find the maf flange here http://www.treadstoneperformance.com...imageField.y=0 filters at knn.com |
Was that the issue with the stock MAF housing? That it takes in too much hot air or is it a flow issue? That bend looks a tad strange though, lol.
I havent got any gauges yet because my friend was going to sell me his, but I think he might be loafting on that and I'll go buy them instead. Injectors, fuel delivery and spark are all stock and fuel octane is 91 |
Also wouldnt the intake filter sit ontop of the crash bar in the upper section of the bumber since the intercooler is in the way?

Injectors, fuel delivery and spark are all stock and fuel octane is 91 the stock greddy maf housing takes in all the hot air which can decrease performance. an ideal air intake will have the correct bends and screens to have the right amount of air flow hitting the MAF sensor. please o please get a wideband a/f gauge and a boost gauge before EVER hitting boost. just a word of advice man. it will save you a hassle in the future with engine related problems (detention). take the time to continue researching on this forum. every question you have has been answered already. |

Injectors, fuel delivery and spark are all stock and fuel octane is 91 The greddy MAF housing is a piece of shit that will never provide you with good MAF readings ... not so much of an issue if tuning with emanage since emanage is MAP based HOWEVER, this is a HUGE issue if tuning with COBB However, with a proper set-up COBB is superior to Emanage is EVERY SINGLE WAY Why did you slap a turbo on without doing research or getting gauges man??? |
The original question was relating to the e-manage because I was missing the pressure sensor. I didn't double check my parts because it was my friend who sold it to me, unfortunately I ran into an obvious problem and I needed a quick solution so I posted to the members for a quick answer.
Im not completely clueless in what I'm doing. The greddy kit running on the e-manage would not have needed the gauges to run, nor would I have run the car hard anyways. I was splitting up the work into a few different days so that the install would have more room for error. I dont know how many of you put your turbo in yourself, but it is not something you can do in 1 day on a rusty car and expect to have enough time to route wiring and everything for gauges. My biggest issue is the tuning as I dont know how to properly scale everything and set my afrs, dwell times, or injector pulse widths and all that jazz. I understand the basic principles but I need more help the the specifics of this car. Please don't take me as a noob and flame me because I beleive in this community and would like to keep this thread as helpful as it has been. Sincerly Darklight9 |
No need to change Dwell or Injector Pulse Width tables if you are using the OEM coils and injectors.
Scale Maf first .. start with an idle log https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-engine-tuning-forum-63/how-kane-tunes-fi-renesis-turbo-ported-ceramic-seals-188514/ |
emanage pretune destroyed my engine lol
